Bystial Lightsworn Deck, May 2024!

The Rarity Collection II celebration took place over the weekend, and I wanted to bring you the version of Lightsworn I used to win the event! The deck is a ton of fun and while it’s not the top deck of the format, it’s certainly worth exploration.

I won my RC2 tourney with a 60 card variant of this deck but with Tear. I’m so glad this deck is getting more representation!

Nice, Im also playing a similar build. Im messing around with a card called Queen Dragun Djinn, it turns 2 random lvl 4s into seals and could also enable lubellion. It might be better in my build since im playing a small danger package instead of horus (too expensive) but im really liking it.

Have you thought about running dugares? Also, i would love a test hand. Not because there are any set combos for a deck like this, but to see your decision-making process (i.e. whcih cards to play first to maximise mill, playing around which handtraps based on the order you play certain cards in etc.) Love the lightsworn content!

have you ever thought about making space for the Crimson Dragon/King Calamity lock? I found myself using those, plus Centur-Ion Legatia (+1 on summon) as my 3rd lvl 12. super easy to make in this deck with all the 8s and lvl 4 tuners

Yeah it was something I considered, however, I feel that if you get to the point where you’re doing that line, you are probably already winning the game anyway, in the majority of circumstances. Which then you have to weigh if winning a few extra games you might not is necessarily worth the investment.

Right now I'm testing minerva instead of raiden as a normal summon through charge. I don't like raiden and recharge because the mills are random and you don't want to mill regained. Charge too broken not to play though. Minerva is an ok mill but level 3 sadly. It can search light dragons in some scenarios though. Also playing 1 ringowurm for this purpose which is also a good mill to go into chaos angel or dis pater. Also playing 3 felis 2 wulf because I like having more tuners

I liked raiden as a searchable normal summon level 4, so it ticked off multiple boxes. While the mills off recharge are random, I feel like seeing 4 deep is pretty valuable. Ringowurm was something I was considering as well, though I disagree with 3 felis 2 wulf, I think wulf being easier to summon is way too valuable

No Lightsworn trap or shufflers? I think those are pretty good to include. Thinking about building a lightsworn deck and trying to decide on what to mix it with. Do you think this version is more explosive with the Bystials, or Tearlament version?

I found the shufflers to be pretty weak overall, but that was just my experience. The trap is interesting, but often you don’t want to end with lightsworn monsters on the field so it’s not impactful. I prefer this version personally.

There’s pros/cons to each, Runick has some pretty glaring weaknesses atm unfortunately.

You could cut them for stuff like dragon ravine and more bystials
