My mother had Alzheimer’s. Even though she had been extremely active her entire life and had been the church pianist and Sunday School teacher for years, as her disease progressed the adults that had been her dear friends stopped visiting because it was “too uncomfortable” for them “because she makes no sense”. Instead, it was the 13 year old who lived next door that started coming over every afternoon to watch tv with her. Sometimes only a few minutes; other times an hour or more. When he’d been younger she would have him over after school before his parents got home from work. Even at 13 he never forgot her kindness. One day, I overheard her talking to him and knew it didn’t make sense.... but instead of correcting her, he just smiled, patted her hand and said “you’re my friend”.

@@Floki255 Um yes, that is how the real world works. You don't have a right unless there is an entity with the power, aka force, strong enough to guarantee those rights. That is not my opinion. That is simply just how it is. You can say you have the right to kill people on the street whenever you want, but unless there is an entity that will guarantee that right, you quite literally DO NOT have the right to kill people on the street whenever you want.

The one about the kids seeing the old man with the memory problem reminds me of a senior living centre my wife and I used to visit. Next door was a school with kids K to 6 and each day a group of kids would come in and talk with the residents over morning tea. It was a time of real friendships being developed between the two communities, old people who often missed contact with their younger family members, and the kids who would not always have contact with their grandparents. Here in Australia there was also a TV program a year ago called "Old People's Home for Four Year Olds", where a group of pre-schoolers spent much of the day with a group of seniors over an extended time. It's such an important thing to keep these old/young contacts alive.

We’re 20 seconds in and I’m already CRYING. I also really loved the basketball one. We had a wonderful kid a few years back who was special needs, I don’t remember what exactly it was, but he had a birth defect. SUPER happy kid, he was nonverbal but he communicated with everyone through high fives and points and various sounds. He always tried to be everyone’s friend. He was on the football team his senior year and they coordinated with the other team one night to help him score a touchdown. He was also voted homecoming king that year!! I adore that kid.

I picked up and folded an American flag for a business that had the flagpole damaged during a storm. When I brought the flag inside and tried handing it the the young lady at the front desk, she ask what I expected her to do with it. I said it was from the flagpole out front and she again asked what I expected her to do with it. Then a manager came out of her office and asked what was going on. I expected everything and she looked at the receptionist for a second before thanking me and taking the flag into her office. As I was leaving, she was telling the receptionist to come to her office. I have no idea what happened afterwards, but unfortunately I wasn’t shocked the young lady didn’t care.

When I started my new job I took the bus, with four transfers, and 2.5hr travel time to go to work. I don’t live in a good area so I was jumped a few times and robbed once. I met a coworker who started giving me a ride, and one day told me, she saw a car for sale and if I could come up with half, she would pay the other half. Not ever in my life have I had someone extend their self to me in such a way. We didn’t end up getting the car, as I bought one. But to this day she has my loyalty. I’m thankful

We came to America and my mother hardly knew a word in English yet she worked hard to learn American life and took 10 years of vetting to become a citizen. Respecting a piece of patterned cloth is bizarre. But I suppose Americans are brainwashed into worshipping it from a very early age. Like the cultish pledge of alliegence they make kids do when they're too young to even understand it lol. Very Hitler Youth and North Korea like

Thank you so much for these videos! I think I’m not exaggerating when I say that these videos are truly keeping me from having a depression!! Lately I noticed that I was getting real grumpy all the time, because I see so many people being selfish, inconsiderate and impolite in stores and traffic and so on. Of course the (world) news is also pretty negative and sad. And all those things were getting to me, even though I tried to shield myself from it. So I actually started watching these videos on purpose, reminding myself of all of the love and kindness that is also around in the world. And it truly helps! While I’m watching, I have a big smile on my face (and often a tear or two as well). And once I’m done watching, I am actually able to go outside with a fresh start, an open mind and a friendly face myself, without the need to grumble and mutter whenever I see someone acting unkind. Because unfortunately unkind people will always be there too, but because of the uplifting effect of these videos, I can look at them with empathy and kindness myself. I actually turn things around and instead of saying something sarcastic to them like I did at first, I give them a friendly smile and then I walk away. Without it ruining my day! And thus keeping me sane, healthy and happier!! So, from my heart to yours: thank you!!!

I must confess that I have often been guilty of just paying attention to the ugly things that people do in the world but times like this I am so thankful to be reminded that most of humanity is good. Sadly what happens to make many of us forget that is the awful people are the loudest, and often the worst of mankind is in places of power so they overshadow the rest of us, but I intend to be more cognizant of the moments and opportunities where I can do someone some good...as an old hymn states " then my living will not be invain"🙏🏽

When you perform a Random act or acts of kindness from your Heart, it feels GREAT! I remember being sooooo hungry. Just bought myself, roasted chicken, rice, beans and a large salad when all of a sudden I hear someone on the train begging for money to buy food. So I gave him my food, and he thanked me and disappeared. Then I heard a plastic bag being ripped apart, and realized that sounded like my bag.. when I looked down a couple of seats, the gentleman was indeed hungry, I've never seen anyone eat so fast and I was so happy that he was enjoying it. When I got home folks, I no longer felt hungry, but I felt great.

Edit: This is a long one, but I'm glad I shared it to who ever reads it. The one with the old man with memory lose got to me hard because it reminded me of something similar in my life. One day when I was getting off the bus from middle school, I saw a man across the street sitting on his front porch dowing a bottle of whiskey. I didn't pay much attention to this for the first few times he was out on his porch. But then my 12-13 year old brain got curious and I walked over and asked if he was ok, and why he drank so much. My parents have been divorced because my dad drank alot when I was very young. He told me his son died fighting over seas, and he's never gotten over it. Seeing this man be so broken inspired me to want to help. So everyday after school. I would go over and bring cookies my mom would bake, and I would have him help me do my homework. After a few weeks of this I asked my mom if we could have a guess for dinner. She was always happy to serve guests. So I invited the man over for dinner. The man's name was Jimmy. Jump 5 years later. And Jimmy completely gave up smoking and drinking. And I graduated highschool. Jimmy was there for my graduation. He became part of my family. And we loved him as a second father. We had him over almost every night for dinner. Jimmy helped me to get a job at a company he used to work for. A year ago. Jimmy past away from Covid. But I remember only a month before his passing, he told me that I saved his life, the day I came over. He was alone and had no one to talk too, no one to consult too. His son died 10 year ago. And for 5 long years, he drank, and smoked, and lived a depressing life, but I changed that all around for him. I became his second son. He could once again have reason to live, a reason to be a father to someone. And that person was me. Before Jimmy passed away. He wrote a will. He gave 75% of his earnings to organizations helping combat vets, and parents of deceased soldiers. And he gave the other 25% to me and my family. His last wish in his will, was for everyone to be as happy as the day he was rescued by a 12 year old boy and his family. So seeing those kids run up to that old man in the chair makes me happy. To know that no matter what that man is going threw. Everyday, he is happy to know that something magical is going to happen at that certain time of day.
