Amazing to see that people are translating Byzantine Carols to allow others from all around the world to appreciate the Beauty of Byzantine music

I cannot wait to go to the Byzantine seminary, I’m a freshman in college but I know this is what god wants me to do and I know one day I’ll be a Byzantine priest. Eastern Rite churches like Orthodoxy and Byzantine take spirituality on a whole different level and it’s so moving. Pray for me a sinner and pray for peace and happiness in the world. Also pray for me to make the right choices and worship the Lord in every way possible. May God grant all of you many blessed years☦️

Separating Orthodoxy and Byzantine is kinda silly no? unless you are referencing Catholic - Orthodox churches , but those are heretical.

Uncle Tom? Bootlicker? No thanks, you’re not one of us. There’s no such thing as a “byzantine catholic”. Become TRUE ORTHODOX and then you will gladly be embraced as our brother

I suspect the intervals are of an older intonation than we are used to. How this is maintained is beyond me.
@melonyrobinson9944 Жыл бұрын
Byzantine music has an entirely different system of musical notation and tones (which function sort of like keys in western music)

Excellent. Keep this up with all sacred music. It makes sense to understand what we enjoy esthetically.

When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. 3 Give us day by day our daily bread. 4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. To manifest the kingdom of god

Is there any way someone can identify the name of the first hymn? I cannot seem to nail what its title actually is. The generic "byzantine christmas hymn" doesn't help me at all, and when I type the lyrics into Google I get loads of misdirection.

The first hymn is the Katavasia of the Nativity
