Was thinking of this today. There is a reason why no organs or instruments are allowed in the Eastern Roman Orthodox Christian Church except for the human organ and instrument: our voice which only sings praises to Christ Almighty. Just a thought. This is evidence of how and why the Eastern Roman Orthodox Christians survived all these centuries of subjugation. There is substance there. No matter the expression, throughout the centuries, it is because of the deeply connected love of Christ. The real kind, the life-changing kind. You need to look at the image of this video, again. It is very real. Besides the young man in this image, kissing the Orthodox Christian priests hand in reverence, one can also look into the example of Punk Rocker Justin Marler and Father Turbo Qualls and Father John Valdez and Father Seraphim Rose. (it is Farya Faraji, of whom I am a huge fan, even though sometimes I can disagree with him, as he himself has been profoundly influenced by Christ and he doesn't realize it. And as indeed the whole world has, and they don't realize it all points to Christ, all of it. Christ made all of us after all.) It is not even the full hymn. The channel posting this has its reason. It is not mocking. It is fortifying the message of the Anastasis, the Resurrection and reverence. I might not be political, but I come from a long line of very strict Eastern Roman Orthodox Christians and it is woven into my particular cultural heritage's expression in everything we do. We weren't allowed to even look sideways and the word "Phronima" was as common as drinking water. This video is another expression of the same, both the image and music. It is within the Orthodox Christian Phronima. It is what death to the world means. You must look at it in context. You must realize what the young men in this century are living through. We must have the gift of ελεος which Christ commands of us. It all points to Christ. This is from my heart, as I struggle every day to love Christ as I should so that I will not fear this messed up world of ours and just simply trust Him.
