Definitely be sure to wear at least an N95 mask. I normally wear a paint respirator and also don't let the vapors hit your eyes. It burns for sure.

I enjoyed your video. That’s a beautiful finish. Did you use a thin viscosity or medium viscosity super glue?
@s7customguitars Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much. I used water thin viscosity glue. I find that it is easier to spread. If I have a void to fill first then I will use the medium if thick to gap fill first then transition to the thin for the actual finish.

What happens if that neck needs a refret job? I’ve finished maple necks with Minwax Polly and it’s never sticky once it’s dry. The flat version is very nice on the back of the neck.

I will change the frets. The glue finish is done before the frets are installed.

How would this do as a finish on a maple fretless bass fingerboard?
@s7customguitars Жыл бұрын
It would be a good finish for it. It dries super hard and is easy to maintain.

Would be better

Polyethylene food service gloves will not stick to the ca glue as easily.

I want to try this on an alder body after staining
@s7customguitars4 ай бұрын
@petedazer3381 I did it to a natural camphor body several years back. I wish they would let me post a Pic in the comments but they won't. It turned out great and I used a total of about 6 ounces of thin C/A.

What type of rubbing compound should I use?
@s7customguitars2 ай бұрын
To remove the sanding marks and haze, I normally use something like a Meguire's Mirror Glaze #6 then move to a #2 before using a carnuba wax for the final polish.

@@s7customguitarsCan I use a medium cut rubbing compound?
@s7customguitars2 ай бұрын
@fenderjin4900 Yes. In the video if I remember correctly I used a medium cut compound (pretty close to the #6) then a mild cut before using the polish. All you are doing to get the polish finish is cutting the scratch marks out with smaller scratch marks until they are not visible or tangible. So if the medium cut isn't working then go slightly more aggressive. Then go back to the medium.
