At this time Abbasid Caliphate was very much a figurative head but the real political power resided with Seljuk Sultan.

@@yasararafatha3139 no. After mongol invasion in 13th century caliphate had fully collapsed. Abbasid caliphate has weakened from 9th century onwards after Samarra revolt and Janj slave rebellion. The caliphate then on was simply a federation where independent sultans ran their own states and treated caliphate more of religious head. Most of these sultans were former Turkic slave soldiers. Many of the later caliphs were even handpicked by the Turkic bureaucracy
