Today’s security environment is affected by rapid technological advancements and the employment of a fused mix of conventional and improvised weapons and irregular tactics. Collecting relevant materiel during military operations thereby becomes increasingly difficult.
Mandated and funded by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Emerging Security Challenges Division, the Netherlands Ministry of Defence therefor initiated a project that aims to deliver a set of best practices on currently available means to automatically detect (localize and classify) Counter Improvised Explosive Devices objects of interest in (live) video and photo.
