Everything that CJGJ brought to the secondary was missing last year. Last year if they resigned CJGJ and made Dennard Wilson the DC, I think the Eagles season would have played out very differently.

I feel confident about the secondary especially if our pass rush is better this season it will be a playmaking defense getting turnovers

great work as always! could you see if Dejean or Maddox end up at starting slot them switching roles with cjgj depending on motion or alignment. i.e. motion across the formation forces maddox to be the safety and cjgj at slot. How separate are those roles in Fangio's defense? how much of cjgj's ball production came from deep assignments vs robber/flat responsibilities?

Exactly right! Was actually thinking about doing a video about this if I can get around to it. If you watch how the Rams & 49ers motion, they often force a nickel CB to move into an interior run gap in the fit & move a LB or S out of the fit. The more versatile these pieces are, you can kind of just keep moving them on a string and not end up with a 180lb player having to fit the B gap. And CJs ball production really came from all kinds of ways. More so playing the post or as quarters defender but he makes plays anywhere on the field.
