$6500 for just replacing shower tile and floor tile and removing the tub? It’s too high to me. Tiles are pretty cheap. For all of that kinda work, I wouldn’t pay more than $3000. You should have replaced the toilet since you had the floor replaced. Getting rid of the bathtub in a master bathroom is a big mistake as you would have a hard time to sell the house later on in the future.

Góp chút ý kiến ạ: tường backer board trong standing shower cần thêm một lớp chống thấm before tile để bảo vệ nước khỏi thấm vào bên trong, nếu làm như vây nước sẽ thấm vào 5 - 10 năm sử dụng ( dùng ít hay nhiều).

Hi Brian , the workmanship is just ok for the following observations. He is not supposed to use bullnose edge since this is going to be a frameless shower enclosure. The bullnose edge is showing too much framing. He is supposed to use the straight edge just like the one used at the base. The drain hole does not seem to be in the center. The shower head and the faucet are not positioned in the center of the shower wall. He is supposed to redo the plumbing in the back of the shower wall. You don’t need the 2 triangles because you already have the big niche. Those triangles will end up collecting water. He should also use the same edge from the base for the niche. The shower has 3 different types of edges. It would be much more elegant if one type of edging is used. The quarter round base trim on the floor is not necessary.

Lam rat ky nhung lam khong dung. Cai bathroom nay neu may lam thi ton tai duoc 5 nam, con khong thi 2, 3 nam la tam cement (backer board) se bi muc vi nuoc. Anh tho (Yen) nay khong hieu gi het ve waterproof. Water proof la mot yeu to rat quan trong van de lam phong tam. Hi Brian, you should squeegee the shower enclosure after each use. Otherwise it will be a nightmare to clean because of hard water build up, soap scum and body oil. I have used this method for 20 years and mine looks nice and clean.

I remodeled my bathroom with everything new including the frameless shower enclosure for 6000 USD in California . I picked my own materials that include Italian made floor tile and USA made pure white subway tile (3 inch by 6 inch) for the shower wall. It looks fabulous. Floor tile is not supposed to be used on the shower wall because it is too heavy. Chinese made tiles generally are not good quality.
