拉美士的历史：
拉美士（马来语：Labis）是马来西亚昔加末县第二大城镇和副县，拥有约两万人口。拉美士是一个农业城镇，主要出口橡胶。
拉美士始于一个叫甘榜巴耶美拉（Kampung Payah Merah）的小村庄。这个村庄名字的由来是河龟最喜欢的一种河草类植物。在20世纪初，英国军官来到村庄展开调察，并寻找将在昔加末县开发的新领域。
英国军官对于他们前所未闻前所未见的河龟（labi-labi）感到惊奇万分。他们询问村民这些动物的名称，村民回答说：“拉比，拉比，团”（河龟，先生）。因为他们不知道这些动物的名字，英国军官称这些复数形式为labis。因此，英国军官决定把这个地方命名为Labis。
另一种理论是，在17世纪，马六甲王室的成员在旅行时通过此地区。他看到他感兴趣的东西。他把他的顾问叫来，问他那是什么，他告诉他说，“Habis？Habis？“ 因此，不小心脱口而出的名字Labis这个名字。

@@kimlianong3920 Thank you. I happened to pass by while travelling and the train station surroundings being covered by trees and vegetation. Houses nearby and cannot really out if it’s the old town. I reckon the train station is not really near the old town centre as I try to look out for old red tiles associated with old buildings while inside the train.
