Been programming a long time and always hated and avoided regex lol. I know it's powerful but I do graphics and game programming, so it's not really something I ever use. But I'm having to figure it out now for these damn skill tests for jobs. I beat a couple of tests with text/string manipulation challenges by pure algorithmic logic ... wrote my own searching, sorting, replacing and splitting logic without regex, and it had off-the-charts performance. But I know they're going to ask why I didn't use regex, lol, so I wanna be able to show them I can do it both ways.
