I love CS Lewis. What a wonderful talk. I want to mention that if you are in a relationship with a narcissist, you will not be able to win no matter how you act. Sometimes acting as the strong quiet one, will make them perceive you as weak and they respect you less, and then treat you worse: or they will resent you for your strength. And treat you worse and worse to get you to a breaking point. Cs Lewis’ advice is universal and helpful in any situation. But know that if you try this with an abusive narcissist and it doesn’t seem to “work”, it’s not your fault and you aren’t doing anything wrong. It’s about you acting in a way that maintains your respect towards yourself ❤

Thank you for this message. I was just praying about this because i get disrespected by my siblings due to my beliefs. And it is hard not to have the urge to defend myself and express my emotions. But i need to stay in the light and demonstrate Jesus's character and love even through those attacks. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for Your wisdom, for the Spirit of power of love and self control. In the precious Name above all names Jesus Christ. Amen🙏🏽

Me too. My family think highly of themselves and believe they are correct all the time…. They do not go to church at all.

I would encourage all to make healthy boundaries with yourself and others. I think that’s where mutual respect begins. It’s impossible to have healthy relationships without mutual respect.

Lies require at least two participants. The liar and the lie-ee, i.e. the one telling the lie and the one(s) who chose to believe the lie. One in a position of leadership should never have need to explain or defend themselves against disrespect. Truth needs no explanation because truth speaks through actions not words.

😂 "You have very little morally persuasive power with people who can feel your underlying contempt." ---- Martin Luther King, Jr. Be aware of human tendency to passive-aggressively manipulate others who are less mature emotionally by being silent and refusing to engage with others who are disrespectful due to their lesser developed capabilities in communication skills. It is infuriating to have our passionate plea to be heard even if communicated unskillfully or disrespectfully. When the response is calm, refusal to engage, we are surety inviting backlash and polarization. This is partially how the world got to be now in this polarization and blaming the “so-called other” to be the cause of wicked problems in which we graciously grant ourselves forgiveness whilst holding others to a higher standard of accountability,
