One of the special things that can happen while listening to music is when you suddenly become aware that the tears are streaming down your cheeks. Because your mind can’t handle the amount of beauty it has to process. This piece, your playing, did this to me. One of the best performances from this fantastic piece I’ve ever heard. Bravo Jerry. Be proud. Be very proud.

Wow! Another very convincing performance from you Jerry and love the authenticity of the C.C. sound style and the extensions here. I must say though that I remain very troubled with this piece and if it was not clearly stated by you that it was borne with Lefebure-Wely in mind, I would seriously question just how much of it is Franck. For me, having played and loved a lot of Franck’s organ music and also having full knowledge of some of his orchestral wonders too, the typical thumb prints of his compositional style (which admittedly can vary somewhat from one piece to another) are really strangely few and far between in this particular work. It’s almost as if his mindset was well “Have that! Monsieur L.W!” 🤣

I am sorry that this piece does not get played more often. I remember in the early 1960's I became fascinated by it but then it was almost impossible to find a recording. I eventually found one by Virgil Fox but he plays it so much faster than most people. On that recording he finished in 8:55 and it seems a little rushed to me in parts.

Thank you so much 😊 I agree - this is a piece that needs to be heard more. I found inspiration for my interpretation in the performance of Vincent Dubois kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6qnlWWweph2q6M = he is just so incredibly musical! (I'm listening to his interpretation again now - his take on the ''orchestral'' middle bits... divine)

This work is a pure and little known masterpiece ! Very good choice, and very well played ! I'll play it too in few months, I own the Caen sample too, ideal to play Franck. A question : why do you play the Great on the second keyboard ? Cavaillé-Coll and other french romantic organs own the Great on the first keyboard. Jacques, from France.

Thank you so much Jacques! I really appreciate your kind words. Regarding manual ordering: I agree, my performance was not set up as it would be in Europe, however I had just finished preparing it for a live performance here in the US, where the manual order on that instrument was as you see in this video (the joy of Hauptwerk - such an amazing tool for preparation!) kzbin.infoPqnQDX4gD1M?feature=share&t=330

@@jerrymartin79 Alright, I wish you a good concert 🙂! It is quite funny to know that Franck dedicated this piece to Lefébure-Wély, who, let us be just, only wrote mannered and 'pomp' works, and that this Final is also sometimes qualified like a 'pomp' work ! Which is unfair, it is just a brilliant piece, in my opinion !

I'm a little late to the party, but I can see why this upload has garnered so many wonderful accolades in the comments that precede mine. This is a fabulous performance, Jerry! Really stunning. You play Franck's 'Final' with such exuberance and panache! I really enjoyed hearing the piece on the Kilgen, but it is so at home on this wonderful Caen extension sample set. Your videography is also professionally produced with perfectly edited visuals revealing what hands and feet are doing and the audio quality is just glorious. I was interested to read what Maurice had to say about this music being somewhat atypical of Franck's style, but I agree with you about there being plenty of tongue-in-cheek fun here. It's almost as if he is saying to Lefébure-Wély: "Well, Alfred . . . if you were within reaching distance of my genius, this is what you might aspire to compose."(!) B R A V O !❤

Thank you *so* much Graham! I really appreciate that. I had so much fun making this recording (and I think people got that impression too!) - I have to imagine that CF had more than a little bit of his sense of humor on display in this piece. Those wonderful "orchestral" moments are so very CF - and then the switch to "circus music" - wonderful stuff!
