From such a proud and free thinking beginning to a sad cowed population. I was born a few miles from this place...started the JrROTC in Cranston East HS...and by 1994 was so sickened by the amount of control and corruption the modern government hadI moved midwest. Roger Williams is rolling in his gtave.

I am a descendant of Roger Williams on my fathers side and William Coddington on my mothers. Proud to carry their Rhode Island spirit this day more than ever.

I am a descendant of Joesph Bucklin (my 5th grandfather's 1st cousin once removed) the guy who shot Captain Dudingston of the ship Gaspee, you can learn about Joesph Bucklin and the Gaspee Incident on my families website the Joesph Bucklin Society.

When I was 17, I was the only one that year to earn the marksmanship Buckin Award at Camp Yawgoog Boy Scout Reservation. In ten 50 foot targets, to get a minimum of 400. Six targets prone and four targets off-hand. I still have the .22 Yawgoog gave me for being the only one to make it that year. This was nice to know the history of Joseph Bucklin!

Will do. My 5th great grandfather was on those boats that burned the Gaspee.

Wealthy Rhode Islanders invested in schemes on the frontier and in the slave trade that created World War Zero (French and Indian War) and that was what they were being asked to pay for. It doubled the national debt of Britain.
