My maternal grandmother killed herself 8 days after being released from here in 1938. Her diagnosis was “hysteria” but after accessing her records and seeing photos of her right before she was admitted, it is clear that she was suffering from massive thyroid problems and post-partum psychosis. My mom was 8 months old, and was greatly harmed by these circumstances. My children are the fourth generation to be harmed by the practices of “mental health” in the 1930’s, after having suffered some abuses from my mother, who developed an attachment disorder, among other things, after her mothers suicide. Still trying to break the cycle.

My grandmother never told us exactly what type of abuse she suffered from a very young age, but made comments over the years. By the time I was old enough to start learning about, and processing my own mental health issues, she already had dementia. At 48 years old, I know 💯 without ANY doubt, we're on our 4th generation of severe to mild mental illness, addiction, and continued failures all stemming from her abuse in the 1930s. Add that to my Dad's side of the family which brought us more addiction, learning disabilities, and ADHD, my brother, his kids, and myself are ripe for all the things! This is one reason why I specifically decided not to have my own bio children. ❤

I was a guest of the Oregon State Hospital from July 13th, 1993 to June 12th, 1995. Building 40 Ward C. From the day I was admitted till the day they let me go I was convinced I would never leave. I still have nightmares where I'm back there.

As a person's usefulness diminishes, they can expect to become more of a number. There is no such thing as a human right, there is only rights someone can fight to maintain because they have the ability to make it costly for someone to take those rights. The mentally ill don't have that luxury.

My mother was sent here by the court for murder 1976 She told me stories of others who would attempt to suicide or rock back in and forward after shock treatment. One person was Thomasine Creech who she would find hanging (she did eventually die by suicide) Thomasine had accompanied Thomas Creech the serial killer and was mangled from a failed attempt jumping from a window. I plan to visit this location with my mother and get her accounts.
