I receive a json string and I don't know what kind of object it is. Is there a quick way to go through a Switch statement before or after deserializing it? I can change the json formatting to a specific structure if that has to be done :)

This concept is called as model binding. Once your json data is binded you can Entity framework ORM tool to insert record in to the database.
