I didn't see you tighten the compression bolts where the lines enter the top cap. Am I thinking of a different model of top cap?

I ask because I use older equipment that I repair myself, so leaks during saturation and consolidation are a big pain. It may not happen with new lines and o-rings.

This cell does not use compression fitting for the drainage line in the top cap. The seal is accomplished using only o-rings. Works fine.

No, the membrane must be insulating, and accordingly, the water inside the sample will exit through a special channel located at the bottom or top, and possibly the bottom and top together to let the water out in a faster time. The water inside the sample must exit through a special channel (exclusively), to be able to know the change The volumetric, where this water will come out and collect in a graduated cylinder, as well as this special channel is equipped with a gauge to read the pressure of the pore water, and all these achievements can not be obtained if the membrane surrounding the sample is permeable to water.
