Kalaripayt is 60, 000years old. Oldest vishnu idol found in india is about 28000yrs old.(period Threthayuga) (For proof..Archeologicl departmnt of India) Lord Shiva is the not only the founder of Kalari but also yoga nd nirtha nadana (dance), Lord shiva is adi yogi/guru who taught this art to his son lord Muruga then follows by lord Parasurama and Muni Agasthya. From Agasthyamuni nd Parasurama this reached kerala. Term kalari mentioned in Puranas. Many ancient books lost. Few availble.

The long Bo staff sparring is nice to watch with that speed & hands moving up & down the staffs for the perfomers, the problem is in real fights, both boxers have to hold their staff a lot closer to their body in order not to be hooked. Hooking is very easy for experienced staff fighters & sword fighter.

After about 5:30, the video shows weapon practice: kettu kari (staff), muchan (short stick), verum kai (long staff "against" shorter staff) and finally otta kol, the double-curved stick. Verum kai starts at about 6:20, and looks very nice.

You people need to study chinese history, because it records the empty hand fighting arts of Shuai-Chiao and Sun Bei as existing LONG BEFORE any indian set foot in china! Kalari is NOT the mother of martial arts!

Bodhidarma isn't precisely a chinese name. There's some very good clues about Kalarippayat mother of chinese martial arts. Most of the traditionnal school of kung fu are not that old : 200 years for the most part of the oldest school.
