Lived in Wyoming when this album. I have stood in the wagon wheel ruts of the Oregon Trail at South Pass/Atlantic City. 55 yrs later I'm getting Goosebumps thinking about it.

This is such a kick-ass song! I'd be perfectly happy listening to it as I die some day. It's horribly underrated.

C.W.McCall sang a lot of great songs. I had the Black Bear Roads album that I left in the Philippines in 1981. My late wife of 31 years enjoyed the entire album.

Can't find this album anywhere! Had it on vinyl in the 70's. Chip Davis and Bill made some truly memorable music.

Original Albums are best, but they never released them in CD. Only best of n greatest hits. They are good n I'm glad to have them but they are nothing as good as the originals... Thank you Bill Fries. R.I.P.

Haven't heard this since I was a kid. In the 1850's my mom's ancestors took a ship down to Panama, crossed the isthmus by rail and took a steamer up the coast to Portland Oregon rather than take the Trail. I myself can cross the Oregon Trail with the minimum of supplies-in a video game . . .

that adventure is still in your genes. go outside, read a book, grill a steak on a campfire. shoot a rifle. go camping. cross the western plain on fiot with nothing but your faithful carbine and your wit, skin a deer.

This song always reminds me of the movie "Seven Alone" which tells the story of the Sager children who had to make it on the Oregon trail after both of theor parents died on the journey
