C10 Front Clip Removal - by yourself!

My 1969 Chevy #c10 panel truck front clip removal. Removing fenders, grill, hood in one shot. It's amazing how rigid this old front end is.

You don't have to wait for any buddies to come by, doesn't involve any beer either. You can do this all buy yourself with a little patience and the knowledge that it can easily be done. I wouldn't have attempted it -by myself if I didn't see a pic on 67-72chevytruck forum. Awesome site BTW, check it out!!

604Bluelight it looks crazy at the time but I'd do that again. I'm scared for the next step, pull the body off. It's all disconnected and ready to pull, I might just swap in new body mounts and call it a day.

A space bar/ separater bar between the back ends of the fenders is a good idea. Don't depend on the hood to take all the weight, you can end up bending the clip in all the wrong places.

Good info, you didn't mention the two front bolts at the core support. It's unusual to see tow hooks on a 2 wheel drive truck. Are they listed on your SPID?

Hi thanks. Yes it’s in the SPID, labeled “4V76AB FRONT TOW HOOK EQUI”. Painted bumper trucks like this could have them from the factory was my understanding.

@@brendentaylor8976I found that paper in a puddle in the alley of my old place, the hood was open on the panel truck, I placed it on the rad support. So many years later and at a new shop, there it is again. I'm pretty sure it's monopoly money or similar.

Dumpster lol. Over 6 years ago by the old house I found that in a muddy rain puddle. I put it on the c10 rad support. Unsure if it’s just weathered or fake, it doesn’t look good.

Hi, I doesn’t look like the clip flexed at all. Make really good notes of what shims came out of where. I was thinking to put the clip back on, the truck is still apart!

Do not remove the hood from the clip assembly... that’s where the lateral rigidity is coming from!
