I was inside a C-130 for a Combat Takeoff during Team Spirit 83 on the ROK, it was an experience !

Seeing it from the outside is one thing. Being inside of the cargo hold with nothing but a strap for a seatbelt is a whole other experience😂 When you see it squat and the engines roar louder, the pilots apply brakes and engines to full power. Then there’s me in the back, struggling to cling to my seat and then the rush of blood to your feet when they pull up.

Took off from Barbers Point on a log flight to French Frigate Shoals and Johnson Island. We were stuffed full of beer and spares. I wasn’t able to rotate until I ran over the numbers. Good times.

These things fly over my house all the time. Sometimes they get real low to the ground (For combat training purposes I’d imagine) and they shake every window in the house.

Do the engines on these C-130 have like armored coverings over the engines to sustain hits by rifle bullets or extra shielding over the hydraulic lines?

There are many different uses for the C130, denoted by a letter designator at the end like C130Q. They all have different props depending on mission capabilities.
