With your top head liner just sand or scrub away all the loose brittle sand that's what I call it get it down to the solid board get some spray adhesive add new fabric and glue it back to the top it's what's I did on my 84. I wish my 85 the solid top instead of the shit cracked plastic glass top which kind of hilarious cause the small spider webs cracks don't leak but the strips do a little bit.

Hey! Awesome job. i look forward to seeing how the import version of the weatherstrip holds up. i dont think you re-sealed behind the windshield a pillar weatherstrip channel retainer and the windshield molding. if you find that you still have a leak that drips down on the door sill about in line with the speaker , u can seal those areas with black poly caulking. that is where the water typically gets in. great work!

One more thing. The white lithium grease is factory correct. You will notice that the grease is where the hatch weather strip retainer strip is pushed over the smc lip. It wasnt actually used as adhesive. It was used partially to aid in waterproofing but also to make the retainer strip go on! You can try to run without it and see if you get any water ingress.

I finally found out that those are called the windlace door to dash seal. I’m attempting to reseal those now. I think the grease was definitely added after the bodywork because they went overboard but interesting to know that’s a factory thing. Water leaks driving me crazy! As always thanks for the input!

Good job where did you buy the seal kit. I bought some from eBay and waited to long to return so I end up using them wow the targa top is super tight so I stopped tell I have someone to push down on it thanks for the video and good luck with your vette

How has the hatch weatherstrip holding up? I believe that "CA" version has molded corners. I have an older version that I replaced 3 times as the corners would keep splitting.

Great video. Did you use latex/oem or epdm? A link to where you purchased the kit would be awesome. Looking to do the same to my C4.

I think they were the epdm ones. The doors shut really hard now that’s the only downside.
