It may not be your starter. It may be your VAT key, which uses a resister. The contacts in the ignition go bad over time. I had the same issue. You need to bypass the vat key. Basically you add a resistor that matches your key and bypass that security feature.

we thought about this as well.. i think disabling the vats was one of the first things we tried. this bit me on another c4 that i had a while ago.

A VATS issue should cause the "Security" light on the center dash to stay on solid. If Security" is flashing, it's not VATS.

Have you checked the fuel pump?

Yeah I actually replaced them. Lots of work to do on this :)

I Have this problem. I have power at key to crank at that big purple wire and a drop of voltage. is this what you are having a problem with?

That is what I was seeing at times. Car would not crank at all. This is somewhat common from what I’ve read. Relay has fixed it for me.

@@V8Lounge I think adding the relay fixed my issue. The starter I removed looked like it was already replaced by the previous owner.

I have the same problem on my 95 LT1, i think From time to time it wont start at all, i changed the relay and the fuel pump, the car starts, but 4 times now the engine dies when i make a hard turn with the car, and then wont start again! Now i cant find the problem

Not sure if the design is the same. I had crazy issues w my other c4 as well though many years ago.
