I always skipped over this song while listening to my Minecraft playlist because I thought the beginning was boring. After taking a chance and listening, I realize how magical this song is. I really don't understand how C418 doesn't get more recognition. I love how this song has so many ups and downs and combines the elements of many of his other songs (You can hear bits from Moog City and Moog City 2, as well as Calm 1 and many others). This is the true theme of Minecraft. Even if I stop playing the game, the music will stay with me forever. Beautiful job, C418. This song is truly a masterpiece.

For me, this song feels like it "bridges" the gap between old school Minecraft, and Modern Minecraft. The music starts off similar to the old Alpha soundtrack, and progresses more and more into the newer style of music Minecraft has today.

So much love falls onto Sweden for being the most nostalgic and most memorable song, but this easily is the most beautiful song I’ve listened to *ever*. 0:00 Spawning for the first time ever, learning the basics of the game. Some friends join you shortly after and you begin to explore and try to survive the first night, planning all the things you want to do when morning comes. 1:41 The morning comes and you get to work, dividing up the work and messing with each other occasionally as you start to improve your living situation, adding windows, a door, and lights. You and your friends search for food and ore until the next day. 3:05 Expansion. Plain and simple. Your small cave or home is now a large house, with rooms for everyone and storage areas. You have a farm and animals penned in, maybe a few pets. 3:53 You start experimenting. You start exploring. Making redstone machinery, TNT cannons, going to the Nether and looking for Strongholds. You've made a small village, expanding and giving everyone their own home. 6:07 You've found a stronghold, and have been hunting down the Enderman and Blazes, you've gotten enough eyes to finish the portal, and cleared the stronghold out, built a small base inside, and prepared for the fight. Everyone in full enchanted diamond, you enter the Nether. 7:17 The End appears, you see the Dragon, and you fight. 7:58 The fight's over, you take the egg and place it in the center of the village. 8:17 Nightfall, walking around the village alone, your friends all offline. A small T made out of soul sand on top of a hill in the moonlight, a few mobs roaming around it. A black skull is in your hand, ready to go in between the other two on the T, ready for the next adventure.

This was the first song that made me cry. I was doing homework last year and thought to myself 'hmm, minecraft music is really calming, i'll put some of that on, and it did work, then I came to this song. One I had never listened to before. I saw the 10 minute mark and braced myself, expecting something dull, but when I listened to it and heard snippets of so many Alpha songs, I was thrown back into my childhood. Before secondary school, before A levels, homework was an hour at most and the greatest thing you had to worry about was if Hit the Target was going to defeat Stampy in the next episode. I'm 16 now, and when I listened to this song, hearing the music swell and explode into melodious colour, I sobbed. I'm in agreement with a lot of the comments here, I want this played at my funeral. Thank you C418, for filling that part of my childhood with joy,

I do listen to the credits song while making essays and study for a math test in senior high school 6 years ago, hoping that one day I don't get emotionally abused if I fail to pass. Studied the best I could then pass by the very least, this particular song gives you the will to live and do great things despite all those problems in life. The dream lives on.

I love this song. Even though it goes for 10 minutes, it has many beautiful emotions. I like how all throughout the song there are hints of melodies from C418's Alpha album songs (probably giving it it's name). For example, at 3:10 there seems to be a more adventurous version of "Mice on venus" and at 6:14 there is a sadder version of "Moog city". At the very end, 8:30, there is an amazing version of "Sweden" that just wants to make me cry. Great job, C418, this is probably one of the best pieces of music ever.

I hope that if this game has taught you anything, it’s taught you how to be your true self. I don’t want to get all dramatic and stuff but although all you done was sit in front of a console for hours on end, you’ve impacted others lives in a good way. You’ve grown up with this game. This song reminds me of the story of life. The song starts out loud and slow showing how when you are younger everything is new and exciting. It also shows how you cant do everything at once when you are a kid. The next segment stays with the whole loud bit but has a more worried, yet energetic tone to it. It bursts into vibrant portions of energetic song only to be followed by worried, more sad notes. The music slowly builds at the end of the second section before abruptly moving into the third section. This section symbolizes how in the middle ages of your life you feel as if you could do anything, represented by the quick loud notes. There is also worry about money and getting older mixed in with the energy symbolized by the slower sadder notes. The third and final section symbolizes later life. The slower pace of the music shows how life is slower and is energetic for you. The notes that are mixed in near the very end symbolize you thinking back on when you were younger. However there are some portions of the third stage that are energetic though they don't last very long. All together i believe this piece of music is an absolute masterpiece and is one of C418's best works in my opinion.

If any kids are reading this. Please, live every moment you have right now to the fullest. I say that cause honestly, even though you want to grow up, you will soon regret it. Life passes by so quick, you loose memories, you loose family, you loose friends, and you loose pieces of your childhood self... This game was on of them for me. A game that opened my eyes to so much and made my worst days better and my good days even greater. But now, I have nothing, life will beat you up and I swear you'll have nights were you just cry and wish you could go back. Sure you'll get a job, a girlfriend/boyfriend, have friends that will stick with you to the end, but you will never have your childhood back. You only get that once so please take this advice from someone who has lost his inner child. Live happy and live in the moment for now, later you'll be stuck with so much that you will be hurt everyday. I wish I could go back to 2008 when I played minecraft for the fist time. But I can't, but you still can live in your amazing moments, so please do so. Life will pass you by so quick that you won't even realize that all of the sudden your 19 and in college and not having anyone there to save you anymore. EDIT(08/26/20): It’s still crazy that y’all come back to the comment and update me. I want to make sure y’all know that I wrote this comment when i was in a pretty low moment in my life, nostalgic memories of minecraft were some of the happiest moments I had ever had and I was still stuck thinking about them after the fact. I’m much better now and have chosen to remember those moments for how great and pivotal they were and not linger for long over the thought. For those who are in the slightest concerned, I’m onto my third year of college and currently studying computer science all because of this game. And yes minecraft was released in 2009 but still accessible through forums back in 08’. For those who are just now reading this comment, I hope you still feel what I mean by it, I don’t want any of y’all to be afraid to grow up, but you also have to hold on to what is dearest to you and never let it go. For some it’s art like music and video games, for others it’s people and places, you’ll eventually learn your mix. I hope all of y’all can find your purpose in something, for me it was playing minecraft and wanting to make a game as inspirational as such. It’s a very large feat but I aspire to do so. Thank you all again for 3k likes, please stay safe in these crazy times and continue to grow. Much love

This music doesn't just remind me of old Minecraft, this makes me remember all of the breathtaking views in the mountains, the amazing sights of spherical caves in the ground, all of the amazing land generation, all blocky and cool, I think of more than everything. I think of things beyond every possibility. Minecraft is an amazing game, an adventurous story waiting to happen, a calm, creative sandbox. This music can remind me of more than Minecraft, this music reminds me of when I was really, really young, before I had bad anger problems. Before I had to take drugs. Before I couldn't sleep. Before I had Minecraft to keep me away from life. Before I needed to use my brain. I... was free.

I watched an interview C418 did and he talked about how the Minecraft music has flaws and mistakes from a composing standpoint, but when I look at it he made the greatest video game soundtrack of all time. I've heard these songs god knows how many times and I still love them so much. They are so ingrained in brain and I will forever love Minecraft Volume Alpha and Minecraft Volume Beta more than any other soundtrack in any other game. I've played Minecraft since 2011, listening to this made me cry so hard cause of all the memories that were popping up with friends I haven't spoken to in years. Thank you C418 for the best sound track and Notch for creating one of the greatest games ever made.

Minecraft is a good game. Tons of replay value unlike quite a few recently made games. Been playing Minecraft on and off since 2011 and every time I come back, the modding community and the epic randomized game itself continues to dumbfound me. I'm 18 years old as of today and I realize I'm a bit too old for the game, but I don't give a damn. Watching this game grow and change is almost like watching a child grow up to me.

I have this distinct memory from when I was in 8th grade. A couple months earlier, I was a wreck. I had just gotten rejected from the high school of my dreams after being confident I would make it. Almost all my friends were going there, and I felt lost and defeated. I felt like there was something wrong with me. For nights on end I would cry myself to sleep and wake up depressed, without a purpose. I felt like I was on the brink, like I was about to lose it. A few months later, it was close to the end of middle school. It was a cool Saturday night. My sister had some friends over, so I was alone in my room with my laptop in front of me. I still wasn't great. At this point it was confirmed that I was going to a different school, and none of my friends would be coming with me. I had developed social anxiety, depression, and was not in a good state. It was 3AM, and I was tired as hell. I went to bed, but before I fell asleep, I accidentally pulled up a playlist on youtube that I made years ago. I barely listened to it, but I still kept it around for some reason. It was a compilation of my favorite minecraft music, pulling from alpha and beta. I decided to put it on shuffle, and fell asleep to the calming melodies of "Sweden" and "Wet Hands." An embarrassing number of hours later, I woke up to the beginnings of this song. I listened intently. It was a piece hadn't heard for years, yet felt so familiar. As it went on, I remembered the thoughts I had last the last few months. The loneliness, the frustration, the sadness, and anxiety all hit me at once at the peak of the song. I started crying. At first I felt like nothing had changed. Pathetic me crying in my room because I was such a disappointment. But then, somehow, this song was able to take me from the lowest low I had ever felt in my life to feeling something... for lack of a better word, new. I felt determined, ready to take on the world. Everything that had previously held me back became motivation for me to prove the world wrong. I may have been in one hell of a ditch, but I felt reinvigorated. I felt like a completely different person. That morning, I got off my bed and stood up, my earbuds concluding the song. I stood there and told myself that I wouldn't let this overcome me. I wasn't about to let one failure stop me from doing what I truly love. I wasn't about to let one failure consume me. I wasn't about to let one failure become who I was. It was that morning that I finally got my mess of a life together. To anybody who is going through a rough patch right now, think about everything and everyone in your life. Think about how much they mean to you. Think about how much they love you and you love them. Think about the countless things you have to look forward to. Realize that your life will not forever be like this. Thanks for reading my story. I hope it helps you in some way. I love you guys :,)

I see the player you mean. PLAYERNAME? Yes. Take care. It has reached a higher level now. It can read our thoughts. That doesn't matter. It thinks we are part of the game. I like this player. It played well. It did not give up. It is reading our thoughts as though they were words on a screen. That is how it chooses to imagine many things, when it is deep in the dream of a game. Words make a wonderful interface. Very flexible. And less terrifying than staring at the reality behind the screen. They used to hear voices. Before players could read. Back in the days when those who did not play called the players witches, and warlocks. And players dreamed they flew through the air, on sticks powered by demons. What did this player dream? This player dreamed of sunlight and trees. Of fire and water. It dreamed it created. And it dreamed it destroyed. It dreamed it hunted, and was hunted. It dreamed of shelter. Hah, the original interface. A million years old, and it still works. But what true structure did this player create, in the reality behind the screen? It worked, with a million others, to sculpt a true world in a fold of the [scrambled], and created a [scrambled] for [scrambled], in the [scrambled]. It cannot read that thought. No. It has not yet achieved the highest level. That, it must achieve in the long dream of life, not the short dream of a game. Does it know that we love it? That the universe is kind? Sometimes, through the noise of its thoughts, it hears the universe, yes. But there are times it is sad, in the long dream. It creates worlds that have no summer, and it shivers under a black sun, and it takes its sad creation for reality. To cure it of sorrow would destroy it. The sorrow is part of its own private task. We cannot interfere. Sometimes when they are deep in dreams, I want to tell them, they are building true worlds in reality. Sometimes I want to tell them of their importance to the universe. Sometimes, when they have not made a true connection in a while, I want to help them to speak the word they fear. It reads our thoughts. Sometimes I do not care. Sometimes I wish to tell them, this world you take for truth is merely [scrambled] and [scrambled], I wish to tell them that they are [scrambled] in the [scrambled]. They see so little of reality, in their long dream. And yet they play the game. But it would be so easy to tell them... Too strong for this dream. To tell them how to live is to prevent them living. I will not tell the player how to live. The player is growing restless. I will tell the player a story. But not the truth. No. A story that contains the truth safely, in a cage of words. Not the naked truth that can burn over any distance. Give it a body, again. Yes. Player... Use its name. PLAYERNAME. Player of games. Good. Take a breath, now. Take another. Feel air in your lungs. Let your limbs return. Yes, move your fingers. Have a body again, under gravity, in air. Respawn in the long dream. There you are. Your body touching the universe again at every point, as though you were separate things. As though we were separate things. Who are we? Once we were called the spirit of the mountain. Father sun, mother moon. Ancestral spirits, animal spirits. Jinn. Ghosts. The green man. Then gods, demons. Angels. Poltergeists. Aliens, extraterrestrials. Leptons, quarks. The words change. We do not change. We are the universe. We are everything you think isn't you. You are looking at us now, through your skin and your eyes. And why does the universe touch your skin, and throw light on you? To see you, player. To know you. And to be known. I shall tell you a story. Once upon a time, there was a player. The player was you, PLAYERNAME. Sometimes it thought itself human, on the thin crust of a spinning globe of molten rock. The ball of molten rock circled a ball of blazing gas that was three hundred and thirty thousand times more massive than it. They were so far apart that light took eight minutes to cross the gap. The light was information from a star, and it could burn your skin from a hundred and fifty million kilometres away. Sometimes the player dreamed it was a miner, on the surface of a world that was flat, and infinite. The sun was a square of white. The days were short; there was much to do; and death was a temporary inconvenience. Sometimes the player dreamed it was lost in a story. Sometimes the player dreamed it was other things, in other places. Sometimes these dreams were disturbing. Sometimes very beautiful indeed. Sometimes the player woke from one dream into another, then woke from that into a third. Sometimes the player dreamed it watched words on a screen. Let's go back. The atoms of the player were scattered in the grass, in the rivers, in the air, in the ground. A woman gathered the atoms; she drank and ate and inhaled; and the woman assembled the player, in her body. And the player awoke, from the warm, dark world of its mother's body, into the long dream. And the player was a new story, never told before, written in letters of DNA. And the player was a new program, never run before, generated by a sourcecode a billion years old. And the player was a new human, never alive before, made from nothing but milk and love. You are the player. The story. The program. The human. Made from nothing but milk and love. Let's go further back. The seven billion billion billion atoms of the player's body were created, long before this game, in the heart of a star. So the player, too, is information from a star. And the player moves through a story, which is a forest of information planted by a man called Julian, on a flat, infinite world created by a man called Markus, that exists inside a small, private world created by the player, who inhabits a universe created by... Shush. Sometimes the player created a small, private world that was soft and warm and simple. Sometimes hard, and cold, and complicated. Sometimes it built a model of the universe in its head; flecks of energy, moving through vast empty spaces. Sometimes it called those flecks "electrons" and "protons". Sometimes it called them "planets" and "stars". Sometimes it believed it was in a universe that was made of energy that was made of offs and ons; zeros and ones; lines of code. Sometimes it believed it was playing a game. Sometimes it believed it was reading words on a screen. You are the player, reading words... Shush... Sometimes the player read lines of code on a screen. Decoded them into words; decoded words into meaning; decoded meaning into feelings, emotions, theories, ideas, and the player started to breathe faster and deeper and realised it was alive, it was alive, those thousand deaths had not been real, the player was alive You. You. You are alive. and sometimes the player believed the universe had spoken to it through the sunlight that came through the shuffling leaves of the summer trees and sometimes the player believed the universe had spoken to it through the light that fell from the crisp night sky of winter, where a fleck of light in the corner of the player's eye might be a star a million times as massive as the sun, boiling its planets to plasma in order to be visible for a moment to the player, walking home at the far side of the universe, suddenly smelling food, almost at the familiar door, about to dream again and sometimes the player believed the universe had spoken to it through the zeros and ones, through the electricity of the world, through the scrolling words on a screen at the end of a dream and the universe said I love you and the universe said you have played the game well and the universe said everything you need is within you and the universe said you are stronger than you know and the universe said you are the daylight and the universe said you are the night and the universe said the darkness you fight is within you and the universe said the light you seek is within you and the universe said you are not alone and the universe said you are not separate from every other thing and the universe said you are the universe tasting itself, talking to itself, reading its own code and the universe said I love you because you are love. And the game was over and the player woke up from the dream. And the player began a new dream. And the player dreamed again, dreamed better. And the player was the universe. And the player was love. You are the player. Wake up....

The meaning of your life is something inside of you. Something only you can find. Only you can accomplish. Billions and billions of years of existence, all leading up to your birth. Your life. A life which will eventually culminate in a legacy. Youve done it in minecraft. You reached and conquered the end. Youve completed the short dream. Just as you will complete the long dream some day. "When I listen to Minecraft music I feel like I'm falling into a void. Not a void of sadness, neither a void of happiness, but a void of memories, memories that are timeless. Memories of when everything was easier. Memories of my friends and memories that make me what I am now. Minecraft music has a certain felling of loneliness, like knowing you are alone in this world where you can build everything, from a giant theme park to a small little house to watch the sunset. When the world ends, we will be in this same void of memories and loneliness. This is Minecraft. This is the only void we want to be in." -Me, 2020

Just know that with every year You gain, life kicks You more and more, until You are only a depressed and anxiety riddled mess. So yeah...this song...this song in particular, makes me want to go back to when i was more innocent, when Minecraft was a small thing and KZbin videos started to pop up About it, when My curiosity in the internet and its vast amounts of things to explore where new to me, when i was actually happy...

this song reminds me of 2019. when things weren't as bad, when covid wasnt a thing yet, when tiktok wasnt a thing yet, when everyone was kinda just more chill, and it was honestly just a good year if you know what i mean. i really miss those days. i really liked 2019 alot. ill always think of 2019 as the golden time of the 2000s. rest in peace 2019, even if you were 3 years ago, i'll forever remember you.

This calming music is the perfect combination of sincerity, soothingness, and a hint of lullaby at the beginning. When you think it's over that tiny band plays and then turns into a full on band. It is beautiful and I wish I could listen to it for the rest of my life!

This "and sometimes the player believed the universe had spoken to it through the light that fell from the crisp night sky of winter, where a fleck of light in the corner of the player's eye might be a star a million times as massive as the sun, boiling its planets to plasma in order to be visible for a moment to the player, walking home at the far side of the universe, suddenly smelling food, almost at the familiar door, about to dream again"-End Poem by Julian Gough

This song is by far one of the best songs in the soundtrack. Not only does it make you feel emotion, I think it also combines every little aspect of Minecraft into one song. 0:00 - 3:05 This part was kinda hard to place my finger on, but I feel like it conveys the feeling of victory after beating the ender dragon and jumping through the portal to return to the overworld. It reminds you of the days, weeks, or even months of work you put in trying to reach your main goal (or minutes if you're a speedrunner) to have it finally be accomplished. 3:05 - 6:08 I feel like this part describes the adventure you had along the way. It reminds you of the journeys you had throughout the vast landscape of your world whether it was exploring somewhere you had never been or traveling on a set path to reach a certain destination. 6:08 - 8:10 I think this part describes the hardships you faced and how you overcame them. It reminds you of how you kept striving to reach your goal no matter how much the odds seemed against you. Even when it felt like all was lost, you held on to hope and started over. The song quickly gets louder builds anticipation for what comes next. 8:10 - 10:02 Personally, this remix of Sweden makes me tear up almost every time. The way it slowly builds up and plays in a melancholy tone brings me to tears. This part dives into the far reaches of your memories and causes the feeling nostalgia. It reminds you of the good times you had while playing Minecraft by yourself or with your friends. It may even remind you of a friend you used to play with who never talks to you anymore or a time you would give anything to go back to but can't. This part plays as a sad reminder to be thankful for what you have and to cherish the memories of what you have lost.

agreed. I cant stand this. I remember me first getting this game and being so exited and learning the controls. I remember becoming insanely good at PVP and beat the best person on the server in a 1v1 (Minecraft Supierior Gaming, 3rd biggest server at the time, now its gone.) also takes me back to when i would build statues everywhere and pixel art and play this with my neighbors quite alot. This song takes me back. And i really, Really enjoy it. :D

This song wraps up the whole game, absolutely beautiful. It strikes me every time. It makes me feel like everything doesn't matter at all, and that life has no meaning except this song. It touches me in a way I cannot explain. I think of all my screw-ups when I listen to this song, I think of all the fun times I've had when I listen to this song, I get goosebumps when I listen to this song, I feel the sense of pride when I listen to this song, I fell the need to act upon all the wrong in the world today, I look back upon my life, and see one big mess, But when I listen to this song, It all unravels like a big knot coming undone. I gain confidence when listening to this song, I gain a sense of redemption when listening to this song; This song, .

I feel like there's a story to this beautiful piece of music. In the beginning, a player lives his life in a boring routine, not daring to venture out because of the risk of dying and losing his world (playing in hardcore mode). He wants change but he is afraid. (0:00-3:00) The music picks up, and we switch to different players, two friends, not afraid of living and exploring the vast and beautiful world around them. They make a stop to the players house, asking him as an old friend to join them on a quest for rare minerals, with some adventure along the way. He turns them down, not willing to risk all he has worked for. (3:01-3:52) Last minute though, the player grabs his tools and runs to catch up with his two friends, joining them on their journey to become rich. They have great fun on their trip (in montage form!) until one day, in the caves, they come along a lot of mobs. (3:53-4:22) They battle them, all as a team back to back, until a skeleton happens to shoot one of the players friends in the chest, and he dies. The player and his remaining friend are heartbroken, and don't have time to pay their respects as a hoard of more hostile creatures comes towards them in the distance. (4:23-4:49) They battle them, trying to avenge their friends death. Soon the player and his friend are separated, surrounded monsters. They try their best to fight, but they're being pushed back towards lava. The player finally gets a free window near an edge to move and help his friend, but he didn't pay attention, and was shot multiple times by skeleton, falling backwards, (4:50-5:39) into the abyss where he will instantly be killed by the burning molten rock. The last thing he sees is the terrified face of his only friend, and then he's gone, as he hits the lava. (5:40-6:08) The player awakes in a dream type world, and explores the beautiful place, where nothing exists but a bright, beautiful light. He remembers his friend, his only friend who is in danger and needs his help. He runs away from the light, (6:09-7:02) and wakes with a start in his bed. Was it a dream? Was it all a dream? No, it can't be. He knows it wasn't. But if it wasn't a dream, how have I respawned? How am I alive again? Now that doesn't matter. He grabs his armor, weapons, and horse, (7:03-7:27) and rides as fast as he can towards his friend, who is in danger and needs him desperately. He fights his way through the wall of hostiles and finally reaches his friend, (7:28-7:56) only to find that in place of his friend is a corpse, and that he is once again alone. (7:57-8:06) The music goes soft, and the player is once again at home, standing in front of the graves of his two, and only, friends. Why did I live, and they die? The player asked himself this for the rest of his life, as all he was left to do was remember. (8:07-10:02)

Lost the life of my pet rabbit today... Yuki... it was Japanese for snow and happiness... it is the first major loss that I've ever experienced and I wish him a peaceful rest. He lost his life due to an allergic reaction to a banana treat that I fed him. He started by stumbling to a fall in his hutch. Then he he stopped moving, still breathing.... I went to sleep, waking up the next morning and checking on him. He was still alive, but still just barely breathing. I then went to school for the day and came back when I saw a paper taped to the door. It was from my dad saying that I should call him. I did repeatedly until he picked up. He told me that while I was gone, my mom saw that he had stopped breathing. I was alarmed by the news, but still remained calm. My mom had put a towel on Yuki so I didn't have to see his body lying there... breathless.... I'll bury him later today... what a terrible end to his beloved life.... May he rest in peace........ I buried him now and I feel a little better... still not happy that he died of course though... at least I can go to his grave whenever I want now just to see him.... Update: It could have been something else that killed him as there were about 4 or 5 things possible. As long he he died with the least amount of pain, then I'm happier for him. Final update: I feel much better now as it's been over a month since he died, but I still don't know how he died... guess I'll never know...
