The Teddy Bears Picnic tune was used as a loose reference to Sherwood Forest, the line "if you go down to the woods today.." - Hunchback was originally being developed as Robin Hood, hence the tune and that's why he's green. Esmeralda was going to be Maid Marion and this is why we have knights with the cross of St. George on their backs as opposed to French knights. I'm currently working on a new version of Hunchback for the C64, you can see more on my channel if you like the game.

Ah right. I knew Hunchback was originally going to be Robin Hood but it’s a bit of a 321 riddle to realise why the tune is in lol. And yes of course I will check your version. Cheers

Wow, this can be completed in less than 8 minutes? 4:17 Man, those sneaky arrows! I hate it when games use such tactics ("Shamus" does this type of thing too, at least on the C64 version).

Top game Shamus on Vic 20
@JustWasted3HoursHere3 жыл бұрын
@@20thcenturygamingc64 I never played the Vic-20 version, but on the C64 version it was common practice for a baddie or a baddie's bullets to literally be in the same spot you start in on a new screen (they should have made that game a scroller), killing you instantly. I had it on cassette, and I seem to remember it took FOREVER to load. So, I'd get it started, turn the volume up all the way on the TV (didn't have a monitor back then) and then go watch TV, make a sandwich, do some homework, etc until I heard the title screen music play. Fun times!

Way aye. As one of the earlier titles it's not bad. A decent take on Pitfall, this

I had this when it first came out and I thought it was missing some booming crash noises on the rope screens from the arcade in the local chip shop....turns out I was playing a bootleg ROM hack using some other hardware (possibly Donkey Kong). If only Ocean put this sort of effort into all their conversions lol

Was there not a rip off called Quasimodo in arcades
@madcommodore3 жыл бұрын
@@20thcenturygamingc64 I dunno but there was an Atari/C64 game with the same name. On MAME you can try all the illegal conversions of Hunchback running on different arcade hardware....was odd when I first played Hunchback on MAME and it looked/sounded different to how I remember it in the 80s lol
