This wasn't Rob Hubbard. It was Rob Hubbard AND Ben Daglish

You just have to give respect to these old school composers. Great job.

Lovely tune ! You should also credit Ben Daglish, as this was a joint effort

I was just about to comment the same thing. I have an interview with both Rob and Ben coming soon where they discuss this track - turns out the guitar solo here is all Ben's this time!

was humming this all day in work today haha, gotta thank my dad for playing all these classic c64 tunes when I was a kid, doubt I'd discover them without him.
@carking0138 Жыл бұрын
I am a kid just discovering these today, and you would've probably heard them somewhere else because of the C64's popularity.

My favorite back in school. Just great! 1988 when I got the awsome c64 in the Realschule.

I think Nintendo copycatted it. The guy who composed the Mario tune plagiarized a lot of stuff.

Could fit both to the Zelda (dungeon as you said) and Megami Tensei (place where you can fuse demons) series.

Anyone have any idea what's going on in the lead channel at 3:21 and throughout that solo? Some of the higher notes have a crunchy, almost screachy tone to them. I think maybe sync is being activated on certain notes, either that or he's switching sync on and off multiple times to disrupt the note. Either way I suppose it's an acquired taste but I've always loved it. Gives it a bit of grit.
@RolfRBakke10 жыл бұрын
Lead (V1) is synced by bass (V3). Synchronization is also turned on and off at irregular intervals during the note. When synchronization is on, V1 is muted when v3 plays noise due to high frequency of V3. This provides an even rougher sound.

+SquareWaveHeaven Hubbard's a fuckin' genius, but it's quite likely this came about as a happy accident and he liked it and stuck with it

Excelent masterpiece. Can anybody tell me what's going on on channel two? It;s look like that it's combined with traingle wave, square wave and also noise, incredible. Kick, tom and something like bongo drum in one channel.

pretty sure you can change instruments on the fly with the SID chip
@Gotmilk01122 жыл бұрын
Yep, that was one of the most powerful aspects of the SID chip, being able to change a sound channel's "instrument" while the music is still playing, which allowed you to take the 3 sound channels and make them sound like 4 or 5 or even 6 channels, by rapidly switching instruments on the fly.

I think this is 10 times better than the original Monty on the Run theme.
@Roflcopter4b6 жыл бұрын
I don't know if that's fair. The original gets some points just for being such an early and groundbreaking work.

jonny j WTF are you talking about 85 was a great year for C64 music: Not including Monty on the Run (even if some of the games themselves sucked, the music sure didn't): Action Biker, Black Thunder, Airwolf, Cauldron, Commando, Crazy Comets, Elite, Kong Strikes Back (in fact it was the first sid to use arpeggios), Formula 1 Simulator, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, GI Joe, Gribbly's Day Out, Gyroscope, Highway Encounter, Human race (Horrible game, but amazing music). Hunter Patrol, Hyper Sports, Way of the Exploding Fist, The Last V8, Law of the West, Metabolis, The Neverending Story, Arc of Yesod, Nodes of Yesod, Nonterraqueous, One Man and His Droid, Planet of War (Really underrated music from Chrus Huelsbeck), Rasputin, Roland's Ratrace, Shadowfire and that's only a PORTION of the games released in 1985 that had good to great music... None of which had music that you know....sucked. smh www.gamebase64.com/search.php?a=5&f=0&id=25&d=45&h=0&p=0
