C7 Z06 chasing a C5 race car at VIR

The C7 is a non-Z07 with stage 2 aero and on Pilot Sport Cups. The C5 is a well sorted dedicated track car on slicks. Ambient temp was 91F and there were no overheating issues with the C7 Z06

Had an 04 Z06 with a 520 whp 416 and a big brake kit. We ate C7's for breakfast lunch and dinner. Now driving a 17 ZL1 with 700whp. Better car in almost every way except at the road course. It's so fast and fat down the straights that it needs far better brakes. On a shorter course the Z06 would have better times. On a longer course with long straights the ZL1 wins if you can get it to slow down enough to make the corner.

FASTFATBOY it's a great platform, but at that point it's whatever you make it. But you're absolutely right. Even on the street, c5z bolt on will make your casual c6/7 vette owner who's not interested in mods, butt hurt... *edit... non Z's of course

If that C5 is on slicks, he's definitely not pushing it fast enough in the corners if you're able to keep up on street tires. I'm aiming to do an LS7 swap in my C5Z race car next month. I'm running Nitto NT01's right now, but, after they go, I'm looking at slapping on some 275/325mm Hoosiers. Suspension and brakes are already upgraded. Can't wait to duke it out with some C7Z's :D

+Mat Stone He has it on Track then sub menu "Sport 1" which is Traction Control off, yaw control (or whatever it's called) set to "Sport 1". Don't set it that way on the street. Scary and dangerous.

This event was back in 2015 and I think it was one of the National Corvette Museum events at VIR. Lots of groups do track days there and you always see a lot of Corvettes. Hooked On Driving, TrackDaze, and Chin are among the bigger ones that go to VIR. Also a lot of car clubs have events open to all makes like Audi and Porsche clubs.

I love my C7 ZO6. Truly an amazing car. But, I have to admit that my C5 Z06 had WAY more character to it when driving it down the road.

I love my c5. That was some pretty good driving when you started to play catch up. I liked the way the S curves started straightening out for you. Props!

Great Z06 spectacle, all well driven. Wow the C7Z is fast. The silver C5Z at about 20:00 gets light and launches sideways in the essses, cameras always understate what that's like in the car. Amazing--the modded c5z probably has all the nannys turned off--they are way too intrusive on the c5z for as fast as he is. Fun video!

It's true. I always turn off the computer when I hit the track in my C5Z. I notice how much it kicks in when I'm pushing it. Super annoying. I actually hit a tire wall when it rained at Laguna Seca because traction control wouldn't let me power out of my snap oversteer.

Good race and driving by both of them. Don't make excuses for either...they both went after race heads up. Adavantage to the winner regardless of the difference...just all sports...that is why we keep score!

C7Z definitely makes its hp known along with gobs of mechanical grip. Good run man...as always. I just took back over the Z06 track times thread, so will be remaking it here shortly. My RC name got banned but I have returned, and with mod approval..they are fully aware its me...just gotta keep it on the hush.

Both of you know this layout very well, which was extreme fun in my zl1 even. He probably has less weight less power, where as you have more weight and more power, very nice watch

At the time that was on the stock iron brakes with Ferodo DS 1.11 pads. No brake issues but once I went to the AP Racing endurance kit I started braking a lot harder.

No, that's straight out of the PDR. It looks like that was after the update to fix the green tint that the PDR videos initially had.
