My c8 had overheating issues. The water pump manifold with a coolant line had a bad connection, which leaked coolant. The dealership said there was a service bulletin put out regarding it, but my temps were like 260-270 so had to have it towed unfortunately.

Rarely above 200 with my Z51 in the 80-90 range for ambient temp. Think about those temps in Parhump at Ron Fellows also below 210 and that's after being run hard on the track. Was 110 out the week I was there too. Most likely air bubbles and the system needs to be bled.

That's normal for us C4 guys. Ours will run all the way up to 230 before the fan kicks on. I think I would be a little worried with a new car going that hot.

I'm in South Florida and the temp here was about 65-70 degrees today. My C8's not broken in yet, but after a 30 minute drive the engine temp was 185 when I got home. Idling for about 5 minutes in the garage it rose to 200 which is about where it usually is on any 80 degree day idling. I'm not familiar with the C8 DCT or if it shares any of the radiators for cooling, so I'm guessing keep an eye on trans temp. But you're motor's definitely running too hot.

I have no idea if it has to do with heat problems: the fuel injection can get somewhat clocked because the injection is direct. There is no cleaning of the valves. That's why some owners recommend the catch can. However, this seems far-fetched. Either a leak in the cooling system or a blockage in the system makes sense. Or, the pump. If it has a problem, then there might not be circulation. Thermostat is another important thing to check. I'd get the car into the dealer quickly and have it checked out. One more thing. Do the screens that protect the radiators that are after-market items cause over-heating? Not to this degree. I don't know if the Chevy app would shed light on it. Yes. Get it into the dealer. Best wishes and let us know what it was, OK? AF

No, do not implement the suggestion to drive the car at 3000 rpm for ten minutes to expel air bubbles. Take the car to the dealership. Let the certified Chevrolet mechanic diagnose and resolve the matter. further, if the overheating manifest as a persistence matter with the vehicle, you have mechanic records as documentation. Additionally, the specific benefit of a warranty is to address mechanical frustrations.

Jay are you saying adding a cat back exhaust system and wrap is immature? Are you saying beating the crap out of it is using it for what it was purposely built to do, such as race and track it? Have you thought it might have something to do with it being the first year of a brand new model, or maybe due to a previous repair like changing the trans and draining the coolant and not refilling properly? Or were you just being close minded, making assumption, and being judgmental?
