I don't agree that MS.Amma lacks vidwat She has sung Kailasapate Pasipate a RTP in hmv studio before me In 4 speeds ĤR VIRIBONI In two Kalams is an incredible proof In my college days I never accepted her vidwat .Later getting near to her in HMV proved beyond doubt that she is an exceptional genius HMV Raghu

I don’t understand why vidwat means singing fast or singing ragam for one hour or singing a RTP. Vidwat is there wherever there is aesthetics and soul. As someone who continues to learn to art, i ll tell you this, sometimes varnams sound horrible in 3rd speed yet this is considered a mark of vidwat. Why? In this case, the ego becomes more important than the art. That is not vidwat. MS amma was a great musician and a great singer and nobody can question that

From HMV Raghu i am a musician very different from many vidwans Learning from Sonti Narayana Rao grandson of Sonti Venkatramanayya Guru of Thyagier and later from GNSir has given me a status.I have penchant of Sahithya hava which is missing in many many vidwans i dont listen to the popular vidwans if somebody meets me personally i can list out innumerable mistakes TNS is really an exception among musicians

Expected TNS to give a straight answer on MSS. “Vazha Vazha Kozha Kozha” response. He also did not defend the legend MSS. Notwithstanding this, part 3 interview was not as good as previous ones. Nevertheless, TNS is a legend par excellence.

I think Thiru.TNS gave a very pragmatic and practical answer. As he rightly says , everybody has a right to his or her own opinion.. I have heard many musicologists say that MLV was way ahead and better than MS.. Nobody is a holy cow and beyond criticism.. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Nearly a decade back, I had attended a programme in Mulund Fine Arts, Mumbai. Despite being told about the time restrictions( it was a Municipal Corporation owned hall), he refused to end the concert. The hall authorities downed the curtains when he was singing a piece. TNS was shouting at the top of his voice which could be heard by the entire audience. I have not seen such a pathetic scene in my 6 decades of attending concerts. TNS cut a sorry figure that day. This interview also shows him in poor light.

TNS has answered the question about the great MS sensibly that every one has their right to have their individual opinion.TNS in other interviews has expressed his great reverence and admiration on MS amma.He in his entire interview has anoided controversies.In fact he had said MS amma desired to listen one of the kritis sung by TNS which she greatly appreciated To call a legendary artist who is admired by his peers ,vidwans and rasikas is 'zero' before MS is deplorable and unacceptable.Such remarks should be avoided and we have to observe some decorum when we interact in public media..
