Drove ‘293’ many times when she was at Sovereign Bus & Coach in Stevenage. Always a flyer and good to see her still with us. Sounds awesome too!

That is one pure beast. Good to see it back on the road.

I know that area very well. Used to go up there from Teesside a few years ago when I was training (ultimately unsuccessfully I will add) to be a Driving Instructor at Stone Hills in Pelaw. It looks even better when viewed from the front window of Lynx. Love the sound she makes too. Really enjoyed that. Thanks for posting.

We had a huge fleet of lynx in the west midlands both West Midlands travel and midland red they were so comfortable and loved all the glass made it so airy inside

Best buses ever these. Especially Mk2 with nose pod. Still one of fastest buses around

I cannot agree. How could something so uncomfortable to drive and so ugly, follow the National in which the cab was designed round the driver. A day driving one of these was harder than a week in most other buses.

Awesome video and a long lost bus engine noise i miss around weston where i live,badgerline had a few of these! Only thing i never worked out or found out is why the drivers window was always on an angle on the lynx's?!!!!
@jatkin31102 жыл бұрын
It was angled as such so that the driver didn’t get any reflections on the windscreen. It worked… but wasn’t exactly a looker!
@zigwoo9992 жыл бұрын
@@jatkin3110 ahhh right thankyou 👍 ye certainly not a looker but good design though!

These things always were rapid and the Cummins L10 is the best.

Can't believe how you English have been brainwashed into relinquishing your pride. The Japanese Truck brands have steadfastly held onto their engines despite emissions difficulties because they believe the engine is the heart of their product.
@LandAnchor2 жыл бұрын
@@jamesfrench7299 I’m not sure we’re ‘relinquishing our pride’ instead we continue to honour British built vehicles with more efficient, cleaner and more powerful engines.
@jamesfrench72992 жыл бұрын
Apparently the TL 11, you know, your engine, not a foreigner's, met California's emissions standards at the time they were produced. They sound lovely, and had a good turn of poke in 245hp form. It had AEC DNA in the heads as well. It don't get more British than that.
@LandAnchor2 жыл бұрын
@@jamesfrench7299 crucially that’s the point ‘at the time’ not now. I am a fan of powerful, grumbling diesels certainly, but ‘those foreign’ ones you speak of, can be just as charismatic.

I like some MAN engines personally. This Cummins lump sounds very generic to my ears.

Handsome bus from the front but wow the interior bulkhead area has not aged well. The National looks more modern in that aspect.
@Grid56 Жыл бұрын
I always thought the sloped window looked old fashioned and rather odd. Our bus co (kly west yorks) had a blue and cream one on trial but didn't find it a favourable replacement for the Nationals.
