I had a Criollo horse for many years. I bought him in Assisi in Italy, he'd been imported as had many, many others for the meat market - this was 1987. I rode him back though Italy, along the Appenini, through Toscania, Lombardia, and to the Alps. Then up through the wine regions of western France, to Normandy and so to Wales in the UK, took 3 months. He lived me until he died 30 years later. He was a wonderful horse. He was a stranger to both bit and whip and we did plenty of miles over the roof of Wales too. No horse like a Criollo. Nothing to match them.

hey, I also had one from Italy. His brand looked like a reverse E (or 3 horizontal lines and a B), so EB. Did you have same brand? I would like to know what the Brand means. Amazing horse, super soft canter, feisty but cute and affectionate, very intelligent, super fast, probably fastest horse in the whole Riding Stables. unfortunately had to stop riding cause of money and distance from city in Austria.

Had a Criollo from Argentina also. Super horse! faster than any horse in my barn, not very spooky, feisty but also very cute, good buddy, very intelligent, can recognize my foot steps from all the 30-40 people in the barn and whinnies at me when I come from inside the barn, would do flying lead changes perfectly with me all the time. Very relaxed. I did mostly riding out, but also some Dressage and Jumping just to keep him mentally occupied. Very funny horse to own, but you need to have soft hands. Unfortunately had to give up riding because of money and distance from the city. Would love to have another Criollo, but only when I live right next to a barn or farm and have more time.
