The backing vocal from Byron Stingley is just sublime, and always makes me want to bust some moves. Awesome track.

A lot of people hated this album, the Adrian Sherwood production certainly went in a different direction. This mix isn't the same as what's on the CD, this is definitely more club oriented. People also forget the songs City LIghts and Real Life off of that album are more like the old stuff.
@RaymondinJapan6 ай бұрын
Adrian Sherwood didn’t produce this album. He produced the ‘Code’ album. ‘Groovy, Laidback and Nasty’ was produced by Cabaret Voltaire with Marshall Jefferson.

@@cnagorka ☺️👍🏻 Both ‘Code’ and ‘Groovy, Laidback and Nasty’ are great albums imo. What do you think of them?
@cnagorka6 ай бұрын
@@RaymondinJapan I like them both, but it almost seems like they're from two different groups- "Code" definitely has more of the old CV feel, like the creepy samples used on "Don't Argue" and they syncopated funk of "Money Sex Freaks". GL&N obviously embraces the hip hop coming in to vogue at the time and has some killer tracks, I like the remix of "Keep On" and "City Lights" in particular.

Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally someone defending CV. This is the way can enchant people all over, they have always produced mesmerising tunes. First too difficult than too commercial.....that's all the press states. If you listen to them things are absolutely different. They are great and the new 2 albums by Mr Mallinder are just fantastic. Big greetings toy you!!!! Giorgio 🙂

I echo your words!!!!!! Much better than so many trash records that were around those days. Whatever they do always slated by people because they are either too difficult or too commercial. They are just Cabaret Voltaire, with this single they proved once again that techno pop can be intelligent, stylish, insightful but accessible and catchy at the same time. Greetings to you by another CV fan! 🙂

Yes! Those were wonderful times when everything was possible. Great harmony vocals, irresistible grooves meet the sound of gloomy electronic musicians from Sheffield that can suddenly smile. The present, for all its supposed openness, seems completely petty to me, compared to those times.

This version is sounding a bit more Scritti Politti than the album cut - not a bad thing. It's just an interesting twist on the sound.

Thank you!!!!!! Stephen Mallinder is the only singer that can sing in a way not that distant from Green. But he is still himself, he is able to remarkably adapt his voice to several kinds of songs. Glad you noticed that 🙂
