Cabbage rolls! Yummy!! I had a friend, an elderly Ukrainian lady; every Christmas, she would make dozens of cabbage rolls for each of her daughters, daughters-in-law, grandchildren. I couldn't believe her strength and her love. She did this every year, until she was up in her high 80 years of age. I always wondered why they never came over to help her... but her cabbage rolls were memorable, filled with goodness; you could taste the love. 🥰

Wow that cutting technique of the thick part of the leaves is revolutionary. When I make cabbage rolls I freeze the head of cabbage. Easier than boiling. Thanks for the lesson.

Those look nice. I make Lebanese ones. The basic recipe is 1 cup of raw rice per 500g lamb mince with dried mint in the rolls. Boil in chicken stock for about an hour and add garlic, lemon juice mint in last few minutes. Great tip with the rolling, I’m definitely going to try that.

@@karenwalsh1793 No. I make them the same way all the time whenever my family wants them. I personally like the hearts of the cabbage which I put on top of the rolls which have no meat in them though.

Hello Karen. For Easter or Christmas, I don't do cabbage rolls. I know that you can have them with either potatoes or buckwheat. The ones with buckwheat need to have a mushroom sauce.

I usually use all the leftover cabbage and do cabbage with bacon 🥓
