But that doesn't make sense ; instead, the phrase means "my parents." So for the song lyrics, apply the more sensible, less awkward, translation method to phrases such as "wo xin zhong."

Well I have no problem it was done in english because its a Disney production that referes to the animated version. There are plenty of Mulan chinese versions though and much more true to the original chinese folklore story. Disney animated was a bit whitewashed version catered to the American audience.

Although there is still transparency issues and misguided deeds, it was done out of respect and responsibility for their jobs. Speaking of transparency issues and misguided deeds: hopping on subways and beating up passengers who were wearing white, causing a pregnant lady to miscarry, mysteriously disappeared highschool swimmer found dead in the ocean completed naked, shooting a non violent protestor on live stream in the face with a rubber bullet causing brain damage, shooting a highschool girl's left eye out, trying to blind and silence hk by taking out its internet hub and capacity to tell the world what was happening in their own country, 911/police services not answer calls/hanging up, etc. The roll out for Mulan in the initial trailers was messy, but thats what Disney wanted; controversy and debate over remake vs 90s version. Bad faith actors. Any publicity is good publicity. Then this. China/CPC used her and this movie as a political tool by inserting her into a political war with that tweet. Interesting fact, Liu was born in Wuhan, and spent childhood there. And also there is a Mountain called Mulan Mountain in Wuhan, which was rumored as Mulan's home place.
