Great video, changing the filter on my wifes SRX I almost never drive Thx!! Just a little “TIP” take it or leave it, up to you… whenever I change my CABIN air filter (not the engine air filter for obvious reasons) I always give it a good blast of Lysol and turn it on full blast for a couple minutes to kill any bacteria or mold that could be living in the ventilation system PLUS it smells pretty good for a couple hours. 👍👍

Good video, thumbs up! I have a question though (and I may be wrong). When you select the recirculate setting, doesn’t that cause it to pull air from inside the car? The outside air intake is used for the normal setting?

Yes, you've correct, selecting Recirculating Settings cause air to be pulled from inside the car. But for this disinfectant to work, you need to switch to Fresh-Air intake as on the video. I think the default settings for air-intake depends on outside air temperature and how low your A/C temperature is set for. For example; if outside temp is 100 and your A/C set for 60 it should automatically switch to Re-circulation to cool faster. Thanks for watching.

One extra step I always do.....use a sharpie to write the install date on the filter on the side facing you when you open up the filter cover. Depending on your conditions, might want to change annually or bi-annually.

Do you know by chance if the Cadillac is in need of the filter change, can it also stop your AC from blasting cold air off and on? This happened to me yesterday and I smell the mildew when the air stops cooling the AC still on but stops cooling and smell kicks in. Thank in advance for any help

If you smell mildew, it's probably time to replace your cabin air-filter. But, if your A/C stops cooling while it's ON, there could be a variety of other reasons... low refrigerant, electric or electronic malfunction. This actually happened to me a couple of times too, and after restarting the car AC was back ON. Restarting the car may not always be the remedy, so maybe it's a good idea to get it checked before the summer. Some local shops offer FREE A/C checkup. Good luck.
