Yay! Loved this thank you!!!! I'd love to hear how you two got started at Virgin, what the application process was like - especially compared to Emirates

7:00 PBE is protective breathing equipment which is the device you are describing. I think you may have gotten the "personal" confused with PPE which is personal protective equipment :)

Amanda. Can u also share about the rules of the airline. For example...I recently heard that emirates has minimum rest before ULH. Is it true nd if so how long is it

Does cabin crew need to go through security? Same standard as passenger like shoe off and belt off?
@MedMicroBioMe6 ай бұрын
Crew get a separate security area at most airports, but you always have to go through security. A lot of smaller airports would let you through with shoes and belts on, but at my base (Gatwick) we always had to take off shoes, belts, take out liquid bags, and walk through scanners every time. Sometimes you could get away with not having a liquids bag or keeping your heels on, but generally security at LGW didn't play lol. We also had random security searches when arriving back at base as well sometimes.

@@MedMicroBioMe Why to get search when Back from flight? Same you need to remove shoes and belts? Will they supply slippers for you to walk through Or pass scanner?
@MedMicroBioMe6 ай бұрын
@@abcred6753 No, they didn't supply slippers for us to walk through. I just walked in my tights, and men walked in their socks. Yes, we removed our belts, jackets, scarves, shoes, took liquids and our tablets out of our bags just like passengers. We did this every single time at Gatwick, but in Spain, Italy, Scotland, Germany, France, Tunisia, Copenhagen (and many others!) for example, they didn't care. They would let us through with suitcases filled with bottles of wine or not even look at the computers as we were being scanned lol. The post flight search is called a 'random crew check". Sometimes the whole crew would get randomly tested for drugs or alcohol as they were leaving the plane. Other times they would search our bags as well to make sure we didn't bring back anything we shouldn't have (drugs, weapons, suspicious amounts of money etc). They are conducted by airport security or airport police as part of the airports safety and security measures. They randomly select which flights to check - unless a pilot calls ahead about suspicious behaviour of another pilot or crew member. I only have one random crew check in my 3 years at Gatwick.

Airbus vs Boeing. Do you have a preference on which plane to work on?
@Amanda_kingxx Жыл бұрын
It depends! Most of us in economy at emirates prefer the Boeing 777! It’s less pax and better galley layout for us crew to be together

@@Shirley-jkhj My friend said that her neighbor had previously worked as a cabin crew in Saudi Arabia. But she is only 158 cm tall

Airlines have height requirements because you need to be tall enough to reach emergency equipment on the flight without heels on, in an emergency. I saw lots of girls get sent home after failing the height/reach test at assessments days with Emirates, Etihad, Virgin Atlantic, and BA. They ask because it is a safety requirement, and airlines don't compromise on safety. You can try other airlines with smaller aircraft (A320, B737 etc). They will have lower height requirements because they have smaller planes. Best of luck to you!
