The exchange just after 1:25 is a wonderful example of how their relationship has changed over the years. Douglas switches to using Martin's first name and offers to land the plane, since they both know he's the better pilot, but he doesn't DEMAND it. Martin declines, but isn't offended, and Douglas accepts his decision. The whole conversation is friendly, professional, and competent. It shows that in a real emergency, they put aside their rivalry and act like proper pilots.
