Pure genius ! Imagine where we'd be now, if we'd spend the last 30 years building and expanding this system. There would be no pollution problem, oil crisis, etc....no worrying about car repairs, depreciation, etc.

I like how the sequence at 5:15 was filmed from inside the Wuppertal Schwebebahn, an old monorail operating in a neighbouring city of Hagen, where the Cabinentaxi was tested.

Krass wie die früher verkehrstechnisch mehr in der Zukunft gelebt haben als wir heute und wie leer die Straßen im Vergleich zu heute waren

Das System könnte heute deutlich schlanker, kostengünstiger und moderner neu aufgelegt werden, aber das wird niemals passieren. Deutschland ist zu einem Technologiefeindlichen Land mutiert.

This is genius and ahead of it's time and that is from today's perspective. In the 70's that must have been mindblowing! Of course any ideas that are groundbreaking, revolutionary and decades ahead of their time are doomed to fail, because people's brains cannot accept them. Also, imagine building this and pissing in the soup of taxis, buses, petrol stations and car park operators in inner cities? Sorry, greed and unwillingness to accept new ideas won't allow anything new and intelligent to develop. Too many hands scratching other people's backs, never gonna happen.

Es war ein komplettes autark funktionierendes System. (Ein wenig "Tesla" von heute - 2023.) Gemäß des Fahrgastaufkommens und der gewünschten Fahr-Ziele wurde die Größe und Anzahl der benötigten Kabinen durch Fahrkartenautomaten für zwei Transport-Ebenen (auf / unter der Fahrtrasse) vollkommen autark gesteuert. Ein wenig "Tesla" von heute - 2023. Ich habe mir damals erlaubt einige Filmsequenzen aus den Städten Hagen und Wuppertal zu verwenden, um das Fahrerlebnis realistischer zu gestalten. Es gab mehrere Stationen, Fahrtrassen und Weichen. Crashtest an den Fahrtrassenpfeilern wurden ebenfalls durgeführt. (Denn es landet auch heute so "ab und an" manches Autos am Brückenpfeiler.)

I remember seeing this track in Vorhalle in Hagen in the 70s. It was located near "Gut Schönfeld" next to the Autobahn A1. These days there are no relicts from that time. I then contacted some of the Mannesmann or Thyssen (?) engeneers a while ago and they said that you actually may find some of the old cabins at the yards of some local houses. Well, I did not find any, yet. But this project was ahead of its time, I guess. Is is possible that some pictures of the clip were taken in Wuppertal?

Zwischen der Straße "Am Tempel " und " Oberste Hülsberg ", wenn ich mich recht erinnere. Ich habe die Anlage seiner Zeit auch im Betrieb gesehen ( war als kleiner Junge mit Papa mal da ). Schau doch mal auf Google Earth nach. Dort kann man noch Umrisse der Anlage erahnen.

Some time ago when seeing this video the first time and far before the time of KZbin I asked myself, what's the music in background. For me it's an instrumental version of Michel Delpech's "Pour un Flirt" (1971).

Im transport von kleingütern innerhalb größerer gebäude (industrie, kliniken, bibliotheken) gibt es das "Telelift"-system, das ähnlich funktioniert.

@palegrey If you're in a dense neighborhood, this really wouldn't seem too out of place. I don't think these would be built in a freaking subdivision. And if they were, they'd be much closer to the ground and be travelling on their own right of way along a main road.

Really love this idea but has anyone noticed when they input the "station code" they put in 10 but when they are leaving the building clearly says 02 this is probably because (according to wikipedia) the final test track only had 6 stations.

It would be cool if they build a half prt half metrorail. I'm saying that what if for the future, they build a self driving mini metrorail trains.

Weiß jemand zufällig wo genau diese Anlage stand? Hagen ist klar, HA-Vorhalle vermutlich....nur welche Straßen sind da in der Nähe?!

Welchen Umfang hatte die Testanlage? Im Video sieht sie riesig aus oder war das nur eine Schleife die geschickt immer von anderen Seiten aus gefilmt wurde? Gab es echt Stationen? Kannte das gar nicht. Wusste nur, das an der Uni Erlangen mal sowas erforscht wurde.

3 Stadionen und eine Wartungshalle gab es in Hagen-Vorhalle. Es wurdeim Film geschickt geschnitten.

why did cabinentaxi PRT project did not suceed?
