Be sure to add masking tape to the back to keep the wood from busting out.

a block of wood held or better clamped is better than tape which will not stop all the splinters

Excellent video! Only ask is to be aware of terms like "cross thread" are unknown to newbies like me.

I found your video after failing to find a cheap jig at a home supply store because my pulls are too long for the jigs available. Love the masking tape idea and I happen to have some laying around already.

Sorry I’m a few years late to posting here, but I have a question. How do I install antique bail pulls? I have these old pulls which are composed of 3 parts each (5 parts each if you include the 2 screws per pull). But essentially the middle handle comes apart from the two side mounting hardware pieces that the handle sits in. I am finding it really tricky to correctly space my drill holes so that the drop handle fits securely in the side mounting hardware. I either seem to place the side hardware pieces slightly too close together and then I can’t fit the handle in after the side mounting hardware is secured to the drawer, or i place the hardware too far apart and the handle won’t stay in place and falls out. Hopefully I’m making sense. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

did you luse a level?
@A2Z1Two33 ай бұрын
I just drew around my cup handles on paper then folded them in half , that then let me push a pin through the boss for the screws and when it opened up again the two pinholes were NOT the same distance from the centre ! That means if you mark off centres and drill holes then the handles will not be on centre and in my case will not be level , and I have a lot of these , so each one will have to be individually templeted to ensure accuracy . Cast handles tolerances are not to be trusted .

Just curious. Getting the measurements centered between the sides is great. I want the handle closer to the top than the center up and down. Do you have tips for how to keep it level if your not measuring for the true center?
@vincentdavis100010 ай бұрын
Just measure from the sides to get your center horizontally. Then measure from the top to a distance you want the handle at. Then just repeat that measurement across all of your drawers

I did almost exactly this to line up the drilled holes, but my drill (both of them, actually; one a Bosch and one a Worx) WOBBLE. They don't spin true. Tolerance for this project is about 2 mm so my holes didn't line up properly with the holes in the handles. fml

Hi Jason, my name is Jason. The bolts that came with my handles don’t seem long enough to reach the threading holes once I drill. Is there ever an instance where I need longer bolts, or am I missing something here? I’m usually pretty handy but I don’t want to drill holes then the wifey will be yelling at me.
@DoingitWithjason4 ай бұрын
Hi Jason! Yes sometimes you need longer bolts due to drawer and drawer front thickness. They usually come with 1” bolts and depending on how much you are needing you may need a few options. Here they are- amzn.to/3HUuOgZ

Aren't those holes too big? Wouldn't the handle be wobbly???
@Zackeizer964 ай бұрын
The screws thread into the back of the handle, so when you tighten it, the handle will be tight, it isn't necessary for the screws to be tight going through the holes that you drill
