Love the design, super smart, but I think I would rather that they had a PWM adaptor. I know that probably gets in the way of them being 'wireless', but in my experience fans like this often have very limited (borderline basic) speed control. I mean, I presume being powered off a SATA the speed is essentially controlled via DC adjustment (which is significantly more limited than PWM). I've seen fans with a short (usually 1"-2") daisy chain PWM connector and it still keeps them mostly wireless while allowing the user to have much better fan speed control via the BIOS settings. I've had fans like this before and the lack of fine tune control of the speed has always been a turn off. But with that being said I value low-noise over aesthetics (other consumers will clearly differ). Not for the first time though, at least Thermaltake is trying something new. I suspect it's (not for the first time with TT) a gimmick that concentrates heavily in one area most enthusiast level consumers don't really care about. Rats nest cable management is a pain, particularly when you have a lot of fans, but I think the option for standard PWM fan control system is the major thing lacking here. TLDR - They solve the annoying problem of cable management, but completely remove the benefit of having fine tuned fan speed/noise control.

I agree, the fan speed can be controlled via the fan header but it's a rudimentary system and a basic one at that, but it's better than nothing at least. They are impressive fans though nonetheless and I like the fact they are like you say trying new things and making them more readily available. I'd like to think that they could offer a more comprehensive speed control option in the near future as they've already revised the magforce connection once and it can only keep improving.

@@GadgetJoe And I couldn't agree with you more about the good news of TT dropping the software. It was horrific when it was first launched, then it was changed into something that was, barely, somewhat passable. Yes it mostly got a bad rap via association from Corsair's even worse software, but not dissimilar to these fans, it provided something which was a neat gimmick, but didn't really tap into what enthusiasts want which remains quiet, easy to install, and pretty (in that order of importance) fans. - Nobody wants RGB intrinsically tied into third-party bloat software. - It was the literal equivalent of that 'Wallpaper Engine' software. Form over functionality.

Joe, would these be an upgrade from the Riing Quad fans? I'm planning a Core P8 build. Thanks for the video!

They outperform the riing quad fans in every area in terms of performance, the quads only spin up to 1500 rpm and push around 50cfm of air, so the ct120s are definitely a better performing fan. It would just depend on the aesthetic, the quads have more lighting on them with a more rounded appearance rather than the ct120 having just the blades lighting up. Personally I would opt for the ct120 for the better performance and the fact they can daisy chain off of 1 cable, but realistically it would be down to how you want them to look in your build when they're on show. :)
