This happened to us 3 days ago in ekurhuleni as well. Worst part is that you are legally not allowed to fix the boxes yourself, and as such no electrician will touch it. You have to wait for the municipality to fix it which can take up to 3 weeks.

My big question is " Why is the crime of destruction of the infrastructure not declared high treason and a minimum of 20 years sentence be imposed upon successful prosecution? The buyers of copper are big corporate based, its your reputable recycling centers that go unnoticed because everything is documented and overwhelming in the yards. Its a big syndicate that is hard to stop. The scrap dealers they sell it, are small and dodgy but can't operate without the help of big reputable recycling centers that buy these things with a blind eye.
