Use direct tie down on the ladder . One webb racket pulling on the hold down to the left side the other pulling down to the right side .

Ladder barely sticks out. What about a 12' ladder in a 6'bed?

No matter how you load a 12 foot ladder in a 6 foot bed your gonna have some overhang, if u put a ladder rack on it the damn thing will still be as long as your truck.. that said ive always hauled the bigguns with a towel or something between it and the roof.. cuz who wants to put a little flag on the end of one sticking out the back? How people drive so obliviously my bets on having it go through the windshield of miss text and drive are higher than it sticking up too high..

Where the two feet come down on the rear of the roof, would that put stress on the back glass if one were to ratchet that too much?

Putting unnecessary strain on a ladder, not smart... clearly a ladder rack for someone who doesnt use their ladder. Like a supervisor's rack lol
