Well that was a fun trip in one of my favourite cities! First starting off in the "wrong" direction! And the the loop at Muiderbrug! Must look at som more Gent rides!

What I notice, there are people, may be the tourists who are too loud. Normally, People should be polite and respectfull for each other and speak not too loud in public vehicles. It's a part of their culture. I've to say, it was really enjoyable from Gent Sint-Pietersstation till UZGENT.👌👌👌 Huge thanks for this video. Love Gent and love Belgium!🫶 Great ride!🙏

They are called the Rabot towers (the neighbourhood Rabot is named after them) and afaik they are a defensive construction over the waterway that used to run there to Bruges.

Bijzonder dat de tram soms rechtsaf slaat over de autobaan heen zonder dat daar een stopsignaal te zien is voor de auto's...

These are two very interesting new vids showing line T4. I could make out the point close to the tram stop AZ Sint Lucas where the connecting tracks to the new depot should have been built. Thank you for having explained me why that never happened. I wonder what the city of Ghent plans to do in this very empty area between Rabot and Muide. Hardly any buildings, empty tram stops, are there any passengers at night or on Sundays ? Do you really think that the prolongation to Damport makes any sense in such an area with only few inhabitants ? However, are you missing the PCC's, and would you have a favorite if you had to choose between Albatros and Hermelijn?

The environmental permit to build the new tram depot has been delivered today. It's still possible to make complaints against it, so it's not 100% sure yet that it will get build now. There is currently a redevelopment of the area between Rabot & Muide called 'Tondelier' and the same is happening with the area around Dampoort, with a project called 'Oude Dokken' aswell as a new campus of the Arteveldehogeschool being planned at Dok Zuid between the road and the water for 3000 students.

Εξαιρετικό! Εύγε! Είμαι εξαιρετικά fan της μετρικής λύσης, ειδικά σε πόλεις με στενούς δρόμους! Η μόνη μου αντίρρηση είναι τα πολύ αρθρωτά οχήματα tram. Καλύτερα μονά ή το πολύ διπλά αρθρωτά σε σύζευξη...

Ik heb genoten van de video. De Gentse tram blijft voor mij speciaal. Het is in Gent dat ik voor het eerst van mijn leven met de tram heb gereisd. Ik was 7. Wat mij leek op te vallen is dat er op het traject vanaf het station naar UZ veel minder haltes lijken te zijn. Verbeeld ik me dat of is dat echt zo?

@@bwaw1972 vroeger had je tussen het Sint-Pietersstation en Sint-Pietersaalststraat nog de halte Sint-Denijslaan. Deze lag net na de spoorbrug maar is afgeschaft omdat de Albatros te lang is om te halteren. En na de Krijgslaan is er geen halte meer tot het UZ, velen hebben geklaagd bij het openen van dat stuk dat er geen halte werd gemaakt op de De Pintelaan.

Warum fährt die Linie nur bis "Lange Steenstr"? konnte am 09.08. auf dem Fußweg nach Gravensteen keinerlei Gleis- oder Fahrleitungsarbeiten sehen. Dafür dann T2 als einzige Tram durch die Innenstadt völlig überlastet!

@@jorgausw.3584 Wegen Arbeiten zwischen dem Stadtzentrum und dem Sint-Pietersbahnhof fährt die Straßenbahnlinie T1 eine Umleitung. Die Lange Steenstraat liegt normalerweise auf der Strecke dieser Linie, und die T1 und T4 hätten ihre Endhaltestelle in Muide. Daher wurde die T4 vorübergehend bis zur Lange Steenstraat verlängert, damit dieser Abschnitt weiterhin bedient wird. Die T4 könnte tatsächlich noch weiter bis zum Korenmarkt fahren, aber da dieser Abschnitt bereits durch die Linie T2 und weiter bis zur Zuid von allen anderen Straßenbahnlinien bedient wird, wurde beschlossen, die T4 bis zur Lange Steenstraat zu begrenzen.

Vraagje. Hoe worden de wissels in de juiste stand gezet bij tramlijnen?

@@TainoHans iedere tram heeft een computer aan boord dat alles regelt. Elke lijn en richting heeft een specifiek nummer dat gecommuniceerd word met de wissels en die legt de wisseltongen in de juiste stand. Ook kunnen wij de wisselsturing op manueel zetten en kiezen om links of rechts te gaan. Mocht beide niet werken of het is een wissel dat niet elektronisch bedient kan worden, hebben wij ook nog een wisselstang om handmatig wissels in de juiste stand te trekken.
