Cache Creek CO: Sluicing Colorado Gold Nuggets with Andrew

My buddy Andrew was keen for a mountain getaway, and had recently built a custom screen for quickly dry classifying Paydirt into a little wagon. It worked perfectly, and we found some nuggets!
Cache Creek Placer Area is Colorado’s premier public access mining area, located near Twin Lakes and the old mining town of Granite in Chaffee Co.
We decided to go for bigger gold. Colorado pickers and nuggets are rare. There are spots at Cache that produce far more fine gold, but we picked two spots that my testing revealed the chance for bigger pieces. Not as much weight for the total take, but we found our little chunks! Yay gold prospecting.

I went to Cache Creek the last three years in a row and camped out and spent weeks digging in several different places ,..and the most I ever saw there was little pickers maybe the size of a match head ,..and I only seen two or three during all that time and I never found any pickers myself.. Making me believe that pickers are very, very, VERY rare at Cache Creek...I sliced many buckets.. and only got flour gold. And in all the time I was there I saw only three other people find pickers...tiny pickers. I sure would have been lucky to found that spot.....
