Just wanted to mention that 1D-inc does some really cool baroque filigree designs like this, but in blender. In fact, if you model as quads and use the sub-division modifier in blender you will get an output similar to the quad-tspline conversion in Fusion. So I typically design in blender, export the low poly quad model, then convert over to Fusion 360. As long as the topology is clean the conversion is a piece of cake.

Lars, what I would LOVE to see a video on: Those times that you start changing things in a design, and you get problems in features that are hard to resolve. Sometimes I have to delete features and re create them just to get it to work. Sometimes Fusion just figures it out. Things like: Changing dimensions in a sketch, that then changes the dimensions of an object on which you later draw a sketch. If you change the original sketch, sometimes Fusion figures it out, other times it says it's using cached information. Recreate those types of things and then demo fixing them!

Hi Lars, love your videos. What I would love to see is how you actually prepare the carving/cuttings paths in CAM, for the first one, for example. After all, they are wood carvings, so why not do them in CNC?

Hi Le Bear CNC Thank you for watching! I love that idea! I think it could be fun to program them and then run them on the Stepcraft

I don't know if anyone has said this before. but, you can import the .STL into Maya, Mesh Mixer, or Blender and then, export the same file as an .OBJ. That would keep the quality of the model and will help you prevent any headaches while handling an STL in Fusion 360. Edit: Blender is free and easy to use, if you don't want to pay for a 3D program. Edit 2: If you don't want to download and install Blender, you can get Ultimaker CURA (its a free 3D printing program). You don't have to even learn how to 3D print or anything. Just choose a random printer from the list (it doesn't mater which one) import the STL into the program, select the model and then go to Edit, then, Export. Select .OBJ as the output and click Save. You got yourself an .OBJ!

Hey thanks for that tidbit. I am starting to get into this stuff and just wanted to try an STL of an old Hearse to see what could be done with it. Shooting off in so many directions. I have cura and blender. Gonna give it a shot!! Thanks again!

Lars, I did most of your tutorials if not all in past 6 months and I think you pretty much covered all areas. However, I would like to see more sculpting tutorials…yes, we did couple of tool handles etc but never really went too deep into sculpt environment. Some spaceship, figurine or a toy sculpting tutorial would be great. These could be saved as .obj files for adding more details with Mudbox, Zbrush or similar.

Hi Lars thank for your video I have recently became a big fan of you. i have one problem why when downloding the files i have got the obj file upside down and also vertical and the stl file perfectle horzontal and touching the origin ground as you are showing in this video with the OBj file ??? How in this case can I correctly put the whole object horizontally to the orgin plane in order to incapsule it ??? thank u so much for your support kind regard David

I don't know if I'll be able to get my hands on one of these one day but I think it would be really cool to carve out designs such as these into baseboards and doors to create a Victorian style home. I'm not sure if It is possible but I would love to try one day.

I have an issue. I go in to make toolpaths, but the tool setups seem more geared towards milling. I am using a router to cut wooden items on a rotary axis. Any fix for the settings? I know you can change some tool settings, feed rates etc, but it doesn't seem like you can change all the ones I need without others being auto re-calculated.
