Thanks! This is very helpful. I'm a beginner and you filled in several gaps in my understanding, tied together a lot of concepts and answered several questions. I've been working through a book with 100 2D/3D widgets to learn drawing in F360 and was slowly figuring out the flow you demonstrated of sketch (makes sense why they're called sketches now!), constrain, then dimension. Also, I really liked the tip about staying in the line mode and then drawing a tangent arc - that is so much easier than what i was doing!

OMG. The arc tangent dimension is amazing!! Thank you so much for that!!! I am always wanting a hole to be a certain distance away from the edge of a part to make sure there is enough material, or something like that. Honestly, dimensions from the center of an arc seem way less often used. What I used to do was draw tangent guide lines and specify the distance from there. Works, but very tedious, and pollutes the sketch with more non-essential lines. This is way better!

OMG I am learning so much. I wanted to mess around with this as just a fun thing. But now because of what is going on in 2020 I can't really afford to pay someone to design the things for my home project. So I am trying to design it myself. Your videos are so helpful even if some are old. No I can do some designs I been wanting to make and getting them CNC or even 3D printed is not a problem. Thanks so much. Holy Heck! The mouse-generated tangent function you described has solved an 'issue' I was having with my 3DX CadMouse. I do get the occasional switch-bounce on the LH button and so was holding down the button to try to counter this. I suspected there was a function there that created some kind of arc that I was unaware of - and your explanation nails that one. Super-useful!! Now, if I can just get the mouse to occasionally stop drawing short lines at the beginning of the line I want, I will be a happy bunny! (I have lost count of the amount of times I have had lines being out by fractional angles or distances because there was a minute 'blip' at the beginning of a line. Sometimes these are not noticed until many extrusions have taken place - a l-o-n-g way down the timeline. 🤦‍♀️🤣🤣 )

Lars, How do you get Fusion 360 to stop placing automatic dimensions when you are making your sketch? I can turn "dimensions" off but then when you click it back on...there are all your automatic dimensions all over the place. Even when I am doing my rough sketch...Fusion wants to put in rough sketch dimensions for all lines. So the sketch is clustered from the get go with constraints and with "fusion added" dimensions before I even go to put in my own dimensions...or in this case needing to edit all fusions initial dimensions. Your model is very clean as you work. Is this something new that Fusion has added with the new UI overhaul? Is there a way to stop Fusion from giving dimensions as you work? Thank you for all the time you put into these videos. They have all been a big help.

Hey Lars your videos have been extremely helpful but I have an issue I can't seem to fix. I have a rectangle sketch. Inside the rectangle I have another equal 3 rectangles spaced evenly to the main rectangle boundary. What I want to be able to do is when I stretch the main rectangle up or down and or sideways. (Eg: length and width) I would like the 3 inside rectangles to follow. Stretch when increasing length, reduce when reducing length. Is there a simple way with dimensions and constraints to do this? Would really appreciate your help with this. Thanks Mate

Dear Lars, that was extremely useful. I was watching and learning while I was doing m,y first design with Fusion 360. I found that Fusion is sometimes over zealous with its intuitive intelligence and created a mid point constraint that took me ages to find and remove! I do have a question - is it possible to constrain a point to be co-linear with a line in a sketch?

Lars - how do you use the X, Y and Z lines to reference your figures. I cannot seem to use them for constriants, or for measurements to say I have drawn a rectangle 160x200, i'd like it placed 50/110 and 100/100. It does not seem that you can use those lines like I can in my other CAD, and it makes no sense to me that you should not be able to align to the grid. In our machines we like to define centerlines where ex our bottles are and where our critical dimensions are thus the different centerlines are very important. Am I just missing how it is done?
