I'm doing a very similar part and I can't get the loft to work. I even saw somebody else make the exact one and it worked for them but not for me. It doesn't show the preview and it tells me it would produce self-intersecting geometry.

Do you also work with geomagic design x? I have a hard time creating ribs there and so far didn't find a good way to create them so that they are also fully parametric and react proper to changes in the model

Sorry but this is a really bad way to do this. You should never use solid edges for such things because they make the model very unstable. It will fail after the first modification to this region. Also, split line on top of that is a very unstable operation.
