To hear Caddicarus praise so much Dawn of the Dragon, confirming that my childhood _isn't_ a lie, warms my heart so much. DotD has been my first game of the franchise (so much so that I didn't even know it was a reboot, I just thought it was "another Spyro game"), and considering how much bad I've seen talked about the reboot trilogy throughout the years, I was afraid the good memories I have of it were just due to my blissful lack of sense of quality as a child. So happy to see that isn't the case! :')

As somebody who was introduced to the Legend series by this video, and have been playing them for the very first time since then, I can concur that they are quite enjoyable, and that Dawn of the Dragon shines in multiple ways. I imagine a lot of hate simply came from Spyro fans who couldn't accept how different they were from past games. Meanwhile, I've been enjoying them because they're so different, as I never liked the older Spyro games.

ngl i didnt like the first two but i got the third one simply because its simon the door and i was pleasantly surprised that it was so. so. so damn good i was completely shocked because i didnt even finish eternal night due to how unbearable it was for me. but dawn of the dragon alone was able to make me replay the whole game because of just how fun it was, the combat was awesome, the vistas were beautiful, the exploration added with the permanent flight was so fun, and the music was a banger and im a bit sad its not talked about much. im so glad the studio did such a good job with it, they literally ended the new trilogy with a banger.

A lot of Spyro 1’s music is based on 70s Jazz fusion. In fact, it’s believed that Simon is named after the Jazz fusion artist Spiro Gyra. Luckily I’m a huge fan, so maybe Caddy just isn’t into that type of music. Personally, I love how atmospheric Spyro 1’s soundtrack is. I remember the first time I played Stone Hill and I heard that booming drum roll as Spyro flies into the Level. It still gives me goosebumps to this day.

@22:48 Whoever their recording engineer was slammed the recorded vocals through a compressor aka an Automatic Gain Leveling Amplifier. While we normally like lots of compression on vocals, it has to be staged so that multiple compressors pick at multiple parts of amplitude of the waveform. Like you get a quick one to even out those S's T's P's K's and other high transient information (which these guys didn't do). You get another to even out the vocals over the long term to even out all of the words in terms of volume level. Its really a balancing act that can be hard for a lot of inexperienced engineers. Push too hard and you get this overcompressed sound we hear in game, don't push hard enough and you might not be able to hear what is being said depending on the context.
