Fishing for carp on Willow Lake, Short Ferry in Lincolnshire using my newly purchased Cadence CR10 14' #1 match rod, cadence CS10 match reel, 3lb Dave Harrell main line & light loaded antenna waggler with nr.6 shot every 8" down to the hook. Oddly the carp wouldn't accept an unloaded line today, but banged away with shot on the line..🤷🏼♂️. Caught carp to 6lb - no problems...
This session was about proving to myself what a CR10 14' #1 could handle - usually I'd opt for my FreeSpirit 11' CTX carp waggler - I know that rod can handle carp of this size. The CR10 14' #1 had no trouble with these commercial carp on light line & in fact it was quite useful to have a long rod to steer them away from margin reeds & the action easily took their diving runs; in fact the softer action made it easier on the arm - the rod did more of the work... so many rods marketed as 'power' & trend toward big test curves ... I'm impressed with these Cadence rods & I think people underestimate their capabilities.
