The first drill instructor was one of my DIs, sergeant Borjon, he was fresh from drill instructor school and came to our platoon in the second month...sorry to say but he was the weak link, his voice wasn’t loud, he wasn’t intimidating at all, he’d get super gassed out on our humps, I have respect for the guy but it was hard to take him serious throughout boot camp.

I'm a cadet Captain with my school's MCJROTC, and I have to say that this is sad to watch. Our SgtMaj would murder us if we ever sounded off weakly whatsoever. Advice for all cadets out there. Dunno how it works in JROTC, to be precise those are ribbons which CAN represent medals, but sometimes a ribbon is just a ribbon. They have more than I got in four years active duty AF...I had four, two medals, two ribbons, plus a badge. And I had more than a lot of my peers.

JROTC ribbons and medals are only relevant to JROTC, not the real military. That's why they have so many. When I was in JROTC I had ribbons/medals for shit like attendance, good grades, for participating in a school parade. None of them carry over to the real military.

Okay.. for one. Marines in general have a stigma that we just absolutely love to purpetuate. 2. Its an inspection... the definition of an inspection is to check the person to make sure that all aspects of their uniform, weapon system, personal hygien, and knowledge is up to date and within regulation. When I was in Army JROTC I used to rune weekly uniform inspections. So I dont think its a hard concept to grasp.

DI''s do this to Marine recruits to stress them out and prepare them for the reality of war or at least come as close as possible to reality since war can't really be reproduced to train. These kinds of inspectors aren't too common but my unit still prepares for these. During inspection when the DI's yell, It helps them see how well prepared the cadets are.

Lemme criticize(constructive). You go to port arms if you’re gonna march with a rifle. It looked like they were walking not marching. The platoon commander obviously doesn’t know the angle the rifle should be in during present arms(the rifle is leaning forward too much). His rifle movements are fast(in a bad way) and aren’t precise and sharp. When the platoon commander is at port arms, the rifle is too far away from his body, the rifle should be a fist away from him, not an arm length away.

Taylor Hill i dont know anything about marching or commands, but this was in 2010, im pretty sure some things would have changed

I watch these and I was in JROTC myself and I see these cadets not yelling. When they are spoken too the need to yell like they're pissed.
